Jr is a great guy. One time I wrote him at letter back in the 90s when I was just a teenager. Asking him about WWF programming. He wrote me back and send me a photograph picture of himself. Reminds me of a time when I ran into stone cold at a local hotel in my hometown. I asked him if I could drink a beer with him and we sat on the balcony and shared a beer. After he asked if he could have sex with my wife and I let him. I ended up divorcing her later on because she was in love with stone cold and no longer in love with me. It was a bitter sweet memory and one I'll never forget

Love the promo JR cut here. Pro wrestling has so much intrigue that we sometimes lose perspective. Imagine working for a man for 20+ years of your life. There will be ups and downs, times you disagreed with him and times you were pissed at him, but sharing that much time together will create a bond. Cornette says that Vince can be enigmatic, but will sometimes do "ridiculously nice things for you". A lot of guys seem to react to him as a friend, a father figure and a boss at the same time. Mark Henry and Steve Austin sang his praises as a mentor and a friend during the former's appearance on the SCSA podcast.

It really is amazing. Idk what it is about the wrestling business that gets people so twisted. "Mr. McMahon" *_IS_* Vince McMahon with the volume turned way up. That is true of most if not all of the great characters in wrestling history. People can be complex. A lot of what you seen on screen from Vince is just him being himself, but that doesn't mean that is ALL there is to the man. Vince has done some jacked-up sh*t over the years. No one can argue that. However, Vince McMahon has also done some amazing things over the years as well and no one can argue that either. Say what you want about the man, Vince does have a heart and if you are loyal to him, he'll be loyal to you. As a man that's all I ask from another. We don't have to agree on worldviews, but if you look out for me, I'll look out for you.

That bit about three man commentary and him and Vince and The King reminded me of something. I've heard lots about how Vince's dad put him on commentary and what a slap in the face or whatever, but to be 100% real, Vince McMahon had one of the absolute greatest voices in broadcasting before he blew it out. It's still strong but not like it was. I think putting him on the mic allowed the sound of his voice to become intrinsic to the brand recognition as well as grooming the audience for when he would take over the business.

Some of these people in comments... Seriously, chill out. JR has no reason to fib or retract any information. Sometimes things are more simple than what people wish them to be. Stop craving drama. Vince was cool enough to allow Jericho on Stone Colds podcast. He's more human than people put him out to be.

The first 6 minutes of this clip sums up why this is hands down the best wrestling audio/video archive of entertainment history. I do not consider this a "podcast" or "show" . JR does not pull punches 99.9% of the time. He tells it like it is Just about all of the time. I try to listen to all of the main players from the '80s, '90s and specifically the attitude era. As soon as I know they are lying through their teeth about a big situation/story, they are dead to me. That happens more than not when listening to everyone else besides new Jack. lol. RIP🙏🏼 I get it. Nobody wants to expose another person For what they did in the '80s and '90s. I frankly do not care or want to even know about that stuff because it affects my Happy childhood! Jim Ross does not give a flying F about anyone's feelings when it comes to the reality of the business! The literal buck stopped at him. You cannot consider these conversations shoot interviews. This is basically writing the history of the industry when doing these long form conversations with Jim Ross. I'm just realizing that Jim Ross is The voice of my formative years. This man is very important to American history and specifically wrestling history. Thank you Conrad Thompson because you understand how to let the subject of these American history documentations elaborate, instead of interjecting yourself every other sentence. You let them speak and ask short quick important questions so they can elaborate or get back on track in between your main questions. Conrad Thompson is literally an American historian by doing the detailed work that he does before the actual interview! You should be very proud, young man... 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 P. S. Jim hurt my feelings a little when talking about his interactions with Ultimate Warrior. I felt your pain and I'm know I'm not the only one... 😢

Vince might have lost his touch on the creative side, but as a businessman he is doing something right. Also on a human side of things.. he has made a lot of mistakes (steroids, exploiting pillman's death, not stopping owen from that stunt, etc.). He does seem to be there for guys in need. He helped Flair with financial troubles, has put dozens in rehab that needed it (some multiple times) and has welcomed guys back who slapped him in the face. The business always forgives because there is always a way to make money off of it.

There are a bunch of people vince has helped and did everything for, BUT folks only care about the ones he didn't.. for all the videos on youtube of guys talking about vince helping and stepping up, they get buried by the ones where they talk crap about him. These channels literally bringing up old Vince clips to get guys who are cool with Vince to talk more crap about him.
