In 1996, working at a large telecom in Denver, we had a new VP come into our building (2,500 employees) and after they determined that the company was spending over $7,000 a month on "free" coffee for the employees, it went away. God forbid some corporate leaders take a pay cut. It's always the rank and file getting the shaft.

FEDEX wasn't likely that large of an expenditure, if they were using it that often. A company like that probably has negotiated rates obtained for them by an account rep. For something like document envelopes, it was probably pretty cheap and the delivery was quicker and more reliable than mailing. For things like checks, it was better security. Purchase order and other expenditure sign-off is standard procedure in most major companies, which suggests they had been too fast and loose with letting people have spending authority and company accounts (cards, POs, etc). Security and cafeteria are more about personnel that they considered expendable. Probably anything not related to wrestling operations and merchandising. Insurance benefits and employee contributions are another easy target, without reducing staff. This is standard cuts to try to trim what they could control, but wasn't key to their core operation.

Now corporations have decided that 3-5yrs is all they want someone to stay. Linda wasn't much of an on air talent. That short hairstyle and that boring monotone voice was all wrong for the attitude era. Vince had the most stage presence by far and Stephanie is talented too. Shane was ok on tv and Linda was boring.

Was this “spending cut” a result too Vince being taken to court and almost imprisoned for the steroid trial? We’re they trying to save money, since they paid a small fortune on legal fees? Why were they saving money like this then?

So I guess HHH waited to spit water out after they didn't have to pay for it. So no water no game 😆 some don't realize how close WCW came to being the only game in town. Way before the Monday night war WWF almost went out of business. Vince was letting wrestlers go just stop paying their contracts like Bret Hart, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash,. The gates were awful .WWE didn't win any war they just survived long enough to be the only one left standing.

I actually remember meeting the receptionist for the first time in Stamford when I had an appointment with Vince. She was nice, but clueless as to who I was and could not keep records for the life of it. I drove hundreds of miles just to turn around and getting a call from Vince asking why I never showed up. I told him to hire someone who had matching brains to the face and tits on her because she did not have my info that day in April. I don't know whatever happened to her, but I know why she was hired there - and being eye candy with big knockers does not make up for common sense working behind the brown walnut desk and marble floor...
