Jim Steinman - The Dream Engine (Warner Bros. Audition, February 1970)

On February 28th 1970, Jim Steinman and Barry Keating auditioned The Dream Engine to Warner Bros. with the hope of recording a cast album. The deal never came to fruition (luckily for us or we'd never have gotten Bat...) but the audition was recorded, and here it is. Sadly, the quality is not the greatest but I've tried my hardest to restore it, and it's come out particularly well, with the vocals much clearer than they were before. I hope you all enjoy this rare look into early Steinmania!

Wow. thanks for discovering this and posting. I have never heard it before. I was not involved in this audition as we didn't have the money to fly me out to LA. The voices with Jim are magnificent Larry Dilg and divine Sarah Harris. So as much as I would like to be credited for assisting Jim on this one--I did not. It is so funny and sweet to hear Jim imitating my voice for Keep On Truckin', and makes me very sad that he is truly not with us any more....
