Another great video Jim! Loved the nature with the Herons and such, and the fish were fantastic! I am older and have to live vicariously through you, particularly on the long portages. Glad to be able to do that. Nothing like some surf and turf, great beverages, the dogs, and a fire to enjoy time with friends and family. Great time! Thanks for the escape.

Enjoyed seeing Algonquin, the Lunar Eclipse, the Sucker Run, the Cranes, Trout fishing, cleaning, & cooking. North can swim now. I think the other Husky was a good influence & helped North be more confident. He's beautiful. I like how he finally relaxed & curled up in the canoe. Your canoe is beautiful. It almost looks like it's wood. So shiny. I'm glad you & Ted went fishing with your friends. I also enjoyed meeting them. Which meat was poison?
@JimBairdAdventurer2 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much, the other Husky actually growled at north when he picked up a shoe months ago and north dropped it and never picked up a show again! Definitely a good influence. None of the meat was poison, it was just a joke you my friend said in the vid because we were eating so much meat, he said “can you get meat poisoning?”….glad you enjoyed the video and all the elements.

Where did you learn all your nature facts, like the color of the water from spring head waters or all the facts about the woodpecker holes/squirrels/owls? Def love learning new things so thanks for all that!
@JimBairdAdventurer2 жыл бұрын
In Algonquin the greenish headwater lakes is due to the ground water’s mineral content. I forget where I heard that. The thing with the mushrooms and the flying squirrels, I’d read how squirrels will lay mushrooms to dry on tree branches and I’d seen that before. One time in an old growth forest in Ontario’s Temagami Region I saw one cashed in a Pileated wood pecker’s hole. Later, when I was working as a prospector out of a group of cabins in northern Québec, there were some university students from McGill there researching the local forest and I spoke with their Prof. I showed him the picture of the mushroom in the Pileated wood pecker’s hole and he told me the rest.

@gernestmartelle95473 ай бұрын
Again I see cans with you. What an example you set.
@JimBairdAdventurer3 ай бұрын
The issue is when people litter, not when people pack out what they pack in. You’ll never see me leaving trash in the bush. But honestly, it sounds like you should stop wasting your time here, I’m sure there are plenty of other dweeby “example setting” camp counsellor-types on KZbin you could watch that would better satiate your zeal for the self-righteous. It seems my blatant rebellious antics aren’t for the faint of heart. I can get a little wild sometimes admittedly. For example, in my next video, I was five minutes late to feed the parking meter when I ran into a store. A large group of impressionable teens saw me do this too. I’m bracing for the coming crime spree.
@gernestmartelle95473 ай бұрын
@@JimBairdAdventurer that is the reply I was expecting. After thirty years in provincial parks I saw first hand how much litter was left in the interior of Algonquin. The problem is getting much worse. I do not doubt you left nothing in the park but think about other people seeing what you do and do not bring out their cans. Food for thought. No need to get nasty.

Thats the area I cut my teeth in Algonquin starting in late 70' early 80's The smallmouth were introduced by cottagers on Round in the early 80's and have since moved down through the system and have really hit the brookies hard . My coach use to own Voyaguer Outfitters on round and we would go up early May to open you could catch specks right off the dock in good numbers. It was fun to see the area again. You had a pretty easy canoe back west on North Tea . Normally the wind is strong and you have to paddle right into it. That first little portage on the Amable is much easy to just walk your loaded canoe up and down it. Keep looking forward to more video. You should really look into a trip down the Sutton I know you really love to fish Brook trout and it is just insane 30 -50 fish days of 16-25 inches everyday you'll be sick of catching them by the time your down and I know you are comfortable in Polar Bear country
@JimBairdAdventurer2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely terrible Simone did that. Also amazing how much can change in under 40 years. Glad you are familiar with the area. It’s still a gem and close to home for me. Do you remember there being Burbot in there? My cousin caught a big one.
@bradsharpetrout4992 жыл бұрын
@@JimBairdAdventurer Yes there has always been Burbot/ling in there. Generally around the 24 I use to do really well for whitefish on the Fly-rod.

Jim good times with the boys, excellent! I believe I saw a "Grayl" water filter in a couple scenes and was wondering how you like the filter. I purchased one for our 2021 BWCA trip and as a stand alone dip and filter your water it worked extremely well. With a couple of nalgene bottles I could filter 80 oz in a short time (10 - 15 mins) for the paddle to the next portage. I get big time muscle cramps so need lot of water/propel mixed for the work. Anyhow, what is your opinion of the Grayl water filter? Love mine. Charlie
