Legitimate question, I understand folks say put sealants down first than a wax for gloss. If a sealant is as good as they say, as well with it's UV blocking ability while also reducing the carnauba waxs contact with the environments wouldn't it make sense to apply that on the bottom? If the sealant is protecting it it should last longer (at least in theory) giving you the best of both worlds (water beading characteristics and protection from the sealant) with a longer life to the carnauba and the glow it offers. I understand folks say do it the other way but wouldn't the sealant on top protect the carnuba and give it a longer life while giving you the benefit of the sealants water characteristics. Putting carnauba wax on top just seems like it would mask the advantages of a sealant (mostly water beading) it has always seemed counter intuitive to me. Could you possibly one day do a torture test to see if there is actually any benefit with gloss readings before and after just to see which would last longer under those conditions and maintain their gloss? I really don't want this to come off as troll-ish I'm completely serious shouldn't the stronger sealant protect the weaker carnuba under it giving it a longer glow?

Interesting video. I've just started a KZbin subscription to your channel after seeing Pan the organizer do his thing and recommended watching yours. I like your realistic approach to everything. My curiosity is this Turtle Hybrid Ceramic Black polish followed by Turtle seal and shine topped of by turtle hybrid ceramic black spray wax. Here in Texas when weather permits I will be trying this myself. I've already done my roof hood and trunk with the black polish and spray wax. Being an avid Meguiars Ultimate line fan and have all their products from compound to wax, I've been impressed by Turtle Hybrid Ceramic line and the videos you and Pan have done. My car is a 2010 Kia Optima LX in Platinum Graphite Metallic dark gray. ABT is the paint code, just through that in because I do my owns minor body work and paint correction. The reason I did just the roof hood and trunk is due to some minor work needed on the front and rear bumpers and two back doors. My car has just broke 56 thousand miles and now that I'm retired for the past 5 years I spend a lot of time trying to keep it detailed and looking great. I know it's not a Jag, BMW, Audi but it's good enough for my wife and I. Wish I could see how to post a picture of it just for grins. Anyway I would like your thoughts on this. I plan on DA compounding the quarter panels next with ultimate Compound then IPA wipe followed by Turtle Hybrid Ceramic Black polish and seal and shine and hybrid ceramic black spray wax here in the spring. What do you think of this idea ?

I use that bug and tar remover from turtle wax from time to time and it's very hard to get off. It's almost like axle grease in that it gums up the wash mit. I now use a paper towel to lightly wipe off all I can before I wash the car. Lesson learned. I think something to consider is that after each torture test (which would simulate a separate washing) most folks would then reapply the spray wax of their choice as a finishing detail. This is a good test, thank you. Most folks might never get to full degradation before reapplying though. I wouldn't. I'm sure that's what turtle wax is hoping for.
@tonymattisson61585 жыл бұрын
Try with just high water pressure and the best would be a PW. Do this directly after the dwell time. Then the little that's left as in residue should be easly washed of with the wash. But this product seems to be leaving a lot of residue. Also the products in the cheaper range of products of TW usually has a very small amount of their wax in it which often cloggs a high performance in water behavior from your LSP. Think that they uses this so that you will see like it's getting cleaner. Many brands does this with adding some of their low grade wax or synthetic wax. Which usually makes a big hit on a high performance LSP. Like in cheap car soaps and different degreasers. If your LSP is durable you can revive it from this with doing a wash or two with a car soap like Carpro Reset or Tac System Mystic Bubble or Gtechnic G-Wash or Gyeon Bathe. Which leaves nothing behind as in protection and glossenhancers.

I just got fed up with waiting for youtubers to do layering tests and got my own test panel, and now you are doing layering tests. At least now I don't have to do them all myself and other people will also learn. I can't wait to see this series evolve. Just testing each product line most major companies are selling is tons of content. And that's before mixing different major manufactures most popular products. Would also be interesting to see how durable each of the two products being layered are own their own as well. My set up is: full decon + light polish, followed by applying glaze to half a section, and leaving the other half bare clear coat. After letting the glaze cure 24 hours, I put 1 layer of several spray sealants & waxes on both a bare clear & glazed sections of paint. 24 hour cure, another layer, 24 hour cure and since then I've been letting it sit outside awaiting a torture test. Essentially, I am testing to see if the glaze below the spray sealants/waxes make a noticeable difference in durability. Additionally, TW Bug & Tar is more annoying to use than its worth. Ironically after that statement, I am not surprised at all that TW ended up winning this test. Edit: Jimbo I see you've got the line on those new Megs Branded Gloves. Also Edit: would be cool to see you adopt part of the new Apex Detail style testing which is much more realistic and adds a touch of what a rainy day drive would be like.

Jimbo i have a few extra things that would be awesome to see in your torture testing. Where i live in Canada we get slammed with salt on the roads to help reduce ice build up. We also use "winter specific" washer fluid that has chemical agents to dissolve ice from our windshields. Now on my Coated truck i always notice how big of a beating the spray on coating toppers get in the winter. Especially from the washer fluid. sounds weird but when you spray that stuff on your windshield there's ALWAYS a ton of overspray over the vehicle. When your spraying the stuff 20-30 times over the course of a 20-30 min drive you can imagine how much gets on your vehicle over a 5 day work week. Not to mention the constant salt water drying on the paint daily. But it would be cool to see you spraying windshield washer fluid to the panel also especially the ones that claim to remove bug guts or ice build up. and maybe you can think of a creative way to get road salt contamination to a panel and see how fast it destroys our favourite coating toppers. Anyways i hope your able to see this and some of your viewers can get some real world scenarios on your testing! thanks for the great content and i always look forward to watching your videos for the honest reviews on products. And Ice Spray Wax is easy to buff out with no streaking. I’m going to try Hybrid 3 in 1 next as an actual, “authorized” waterless product. Plus, hopefully, it should play nice with the Ice base and topper layers.

Hybrid Solutions 3 in 1 is too much work as a detailer or waterless wash. It’s a little gooey and hard to finish without streaks or smears. Ice Spray Wax is easier even though not approved by TW as a detailer or waterless wash. Maybe I should use Ice Spray Detailer instead lol.

Stacking is definitely more realistic. Good to see professional results.

Nice video and i dont think u messed up. Tw bug and tar killed the hydrophobicity of ice spray wax and seal and shine on my car.

I agree! You're the top gear of car detailing products lol. Love that show and btw Top Gear is now called the Grand Tour on Amazon prime. Love the content. Helps me a lot. Thanks
