So impressed I spent $15 on chemical brothers 16oz bottle of their carwash soap and still highly impressed with the results from both chemical guys products. Also have noticed that my new truck still looks clean even after days of rain ,when most vehicles would have residue from road spray.

Interesting comments as you tested. The Chemical Guys product was clearly better in your tests but your comments were consistently downplaying the difference. You also mentioned that it was harder to apply but what I noticed was that it was easier to get good coverage because you could see where you had applied. I've used products from both of these companies and like them both but if I had to choose between these two products, I'd spend the extra $$ and get the Chemical Guys product.
@staggerlee415 жыл бұрын
The end results of your testing confirmed my suspicions at the onset of removal--also confirmed by previous videos. In theory, since CG is harder to remove, it *should* be more durable. I get the appeal of both though, on one hand CG provides a bit more durability and McGuiars is much easier to remove. Kind of depends on how much time you have to detail and how often you want to be detailing your vehicle. I'd still probably lean towards the CG as a topper over some sort of Carnauba Wax.

I'm seeing alot of comments bashing CG due to high prices compared to brands you see at auto stores. CG is actually way cheaper than most on a lot of their products. Reason being they sell full concentrates like a 64oz bottle of APC for $20 when delitued 20:1 makes close to 100 12oz APC spray bottles. That's insane! That's $0.20 each bottle. Again some of their items are expensive but the savings you get from other items like APC, Window Cleaner, Carpet Cleaner, tire cleaner and shine, and also soap for foam cannon which I have a gallon of Mr. Pink and I wash multiple cars every weekend and still havent put a decent size dent in the bottle and it's been 7 months now, makes buying those more expensive items seem way less expensive or atleast doesnt feel like its denting your pockets compared to buying only 1 bottle of meguiars and it's already premixed for $12. Just throwing my hat into the ring :)

The end result really wasn't that close. The Chemical Guys was still sheeting water pretty well at the end. The Meguiars wasn't even close. He also didn't prepare the surface properly for the Chemical guys, which means he probably didn't the Meguiars either. Chemical Guys says right on their website to wash and clay bar. I know damn well he didn't clay bar first. Can't do an accurate review of a product if you're not following their basic recommendations. I love the Gel based formula of the H-slick…thicker than liquid but thinner than paste. Note: I know this was a test pane but for everyday use application of ceramic coatings and pretty much most exterior polishes, wax, sealants etc….. the circular method is NOT recommended. Especially using paint correction methods….o would think that the circular rubbing method would defeat the purpose of paint correction….especially swirls and scratches.

As for the tests yeah you aren't putting that harsh of chemicals on your vehicle but doesnt this show you how well it will hold up just at an accelerated pace? When you take your car to a car wash or wash it yourself aren't you subjecting it to detergents of some kind? Or simply driving behind another car eating their road grime and any chemicals the road has to offer. I know jimbo benefits from these videos but I'm pretty sure we all take something away from them as well. So I say thank you jimbo screw the haters.

So you want someone to do a video where they wash and wax a car, not have any kind of control in the experiment ( because that's basically what this is, an experiment). Than you want that person to drive the car and wash it regularly over the course of a few weeks or months. And somehow keep it so that there is no change to the environment of said vehicle? At the heart of it this is a scientific experiment. He is going about it in a professional way. To the best of his knowledge he is controlling said experiment/test in a way that doesnt allow change in the process and he accelerates the process by using chemicals that may or may not be equal to chemicals we may encounter on the road and or at car washes. I'd say he is doing a fine job. If you can do something better maybe you should try it out and show everyone instead of complaining and saying he is doing a fine job. I'm willing to bet most people who are complaining also don't agree with politicians or the way something in the world is run. But that same person wont actually try to do something about it. Rant over sorry jimbo

I tossed my last 2 bottles of seal n shine in the garbage this weekend. Tired of the streaking on my black truck. I think I will go back to the jescar powerlock plus and beadmaker until the new meguiars stuff comes out in the the beginning of the year
@justinreneau19835 жыл бұрын
You have to apply it correctly. Out of direct sunlight, cool panel, spray your microfiber towel and not the panel. Too much product will make it streak. I've actually gone to Mckees 37 10min paint sealant. Wipe on and walk away. Can get 30-40 vehicles per bottle.
@edo-j17845 жыл бұрын
You might be using too much product and that is what causes the streaking...I am one to go overboard on stuff like that myself...but I listened to everyone and applied less spray and I had no streaking.
@24skeemers5 жыл бұрын
TX I wash my truck indoors in an underground parking garage. I always spray directly on towel and never use too much with any product. I always start with less, then do more if needed with any product. I’m very familiar with application processes on a lot of products as well. This is the only stuff I’ve really ever had issues with, as well as a lot of other people. How are you liking the Mckees?
@justinreneau19835 жыл бұрын
@@24skeemers sorry you're having trouble with it. Ive used 8 bottles of it lol. For the Mckees, I wont use anything else as a mobile detailer. Wipe on and walk away. So quick and easy. The gloss is amazing. I can get around 40 vehicles out of a $40 bottle.

Nothing like a good 3 step with an orbital buffer. That shit wont get into the paint to clean, put back nutrients, and cover with a hard shell coating of wax. Mequiers no2, pre-treatment, no7 resealer glaze, and no 26 wax. That has worked for me for years.
@DeusKDuo4 жыл бұрын
I am just guessing based on how some 100% synthetic sealants work. I am thinking the carnauba is coming off but the ceramics are staying behind which is why it still sheets nicely but does not bead. Personally i think sheeting is better as it makes it quicker and easier to dry preventing waterspots. Which is why i loved NXT even though people were wrongly assuming it didnt last because of the lack of beading but because everyone likes beading water everyone is pushing these hybrids.

Only thing I use from Chemical guys is their hex logic pads, and that is only because they are cheaper than Meguiars ones, at least in my country. Other stuff from Chemicals is product overlapping, overpriced mess; not worth money or pre purchase research. Also would go rather for spray ceramic than liquid one. It's is much faster and easier to use.

Thier hex pads are great and well priced here in Australia. My fav pads by far.
@wellwh05 жыл бұрын
Down Under Garage In Europe too, quantum ones are great, though here in Europe there are many brands that have same type of pads now with hole in center. Like Honeycomb Combinatiin, that aren’t know that well but are as good and cheaper than chemicals ones.

@raksh93 жыл бұрын
Megs Ultimate Quik Wax is awesome. I usually use Ultimate Liquid as the base and Ultimate Quik spray as the top layer, and everything has a great shine, and water beads and sheets well. It does wear off pretty fast, around two or three heavy rainfalls before it stops beading on the doors.

I noticed with the CG, least on my car that after roughly 3-4 washes it pretty much disappears partially, and this is with PH balanced shampoo. So that's basically 1 months time, as I try to wash my car once a week. Not too happy with the CG ceramic atm, will be trying some from Griot's here shortly, hopefully with better durability.

I did a test comparison with 3d POXY (for sheeting), Gyeon WetCoat & Turtle wax seal & shine. Gyeon wetcoat got first in water beading and sheeting, then seal & shine and POXY last . Poxy is WAY Glossier than both though. Gyeon wetcoat is my go to for spray and rinse sealant.

The real winner of the torture test is the Eagle One Black & Plasti-Coat Wheel Cleaner. I’ll bet that you’ve helped sell more of that than any of the ceramic wax products. 😀

Chemical guys is better overall. You get what you pay for. To be fair, you would spray all of these harsh chemicals BEFORE doing these ceramics. They look the same almost when you applied them. So with that being said the Meguiars is good for people on a budget. Chemical Guys if you want the best consumer products.

Question: In this day and age, where do liquid waxes fall in the detailing world? It seems spray sealants outlast and are easier to apply. Are we reaching a point where waxes won’t be used anymore?
@autodetailingpodcast5 жыл бұрын
I’m asking myself the same question. The only thing I can think of is there maybe still some people that like applying wax the old school way, but it still doesn’t make sense to me.
@three90blue775 жыл бұрын
That’s what I was thinking as well. And not so much they like it, it’s just what they’ve always known. It seems to have come down to ceramic coatings or spray sealants. As a part time detailer, it’s really changed the way I look at the way I do things.
@daves.32785 жыл бұрын
@@autodetailingpodcast yeah.. it's a Drag to apply a paste wax on a car. Takes forever. Liquid on a DA is quicker but still takes a good while. Spray sealants have saved me so much time its ridiculous. I can detail 2 cars now before with paste waxes I could only do 1 in 2 hours
@wellwh05 жыл бұрын
David Saucedo I have two tins of wax Fusso and Megs Ultimate Paste. After Megs Hybrid Ceramic spray wax I don’t use them any more. Ultimate paste provide little more gloss on unpolished car. In every other way spray is way better and much much fatser to apply. So only makes sense to me these days is high durable ceramic that last 2-3 years or two times a year spray ceramic wax Alternative is maybe cleaner wax with DA to spray wax if car is neglected

I agree with your comment about a spray and wipe application. I just put a second coat of the Turtle Wax Ceramic Spray on my 2020 Explorer ST and am amazed with the shine and water beading qualities of a spray on product. I ordered it based on your recommendation and have other friends using it now. I have some Chemical Guys in my arsenal but believe that all their products are way overpriced. Guess I will have to toss out my Meguiars Express Wax now! Thank you for the great videos....Merry Christmas
