Kitboga is having to change his characters and fake voices because scammers are starting to recognise him. One scammer immediately sussed "Edna" by voice and namedropped the name of kitboga's channel. I think the same is now happening with Jim because he did a recent livestream in which he called up a load of scammers and they all flipped him off immediately. People find it very easy to make excuses for things that are to their own benefit or that have been accepted by their peer group. Commonly they would think of their victims as not really people and compartmentalise them in a category that isn't deserving of empathy. We tend to think of criminals and such as nazi concentration camp guards as being monsters and psychopaths, but if you look into it they often turn out to be quite normal people with their families and friends, outside of the atrocities they commit. We, humans, evolved in small tribes, where loyalty within the tribe was all important, but so was grabbing stuff and competing with everyone else. So it isn't hard to understand the origin of this kind of behaviour.

When they call I let them know my computer is off and I need to start it. After awhile they ask if it is on yet. I let them know that my computer is running Win3.1 so it takes awhile, (Win 3.1 not internet capable if I remember properly), I say the same when they ask if I am on the internet yet, and many other times. When I am told my computer has a virus I get very worried and flustered. I ask if I need to get my wife and children to the hospital or can we get vaccinated. At this point I am usually handed off to another "more skilled" operator. After a half hour of wasting their time I tell them that I am not reading the message they say should be on my screen. It says that there is a hacker and a scam artist trying to rob me. They do tend to get upset about this. I then tell them that I am a programmer and I only use MAC at home. They begin to swear at me so I disconnect as I get irritated with those who are rude, impolite and thieves. At least it was thirty minutes that they were not scamming someone. My daughter sits to the side and giggles when one of these thieves calls. I am a 62 year old man. I am pretty sure that there are a lot of us old geezers that wrote software or produced countermeasures to the software they are using.

@zara50236 жыл бұрын
Usually I would object to referring lying as disgusting, but considering the scammers on the phone sicken me with their consistent lying, telling more and more as the conversation progresses, I've clearly got nothing to object to. Their characters are so weak, they can't even stand up for what they're doing, being put in their position where its neutrally understood that the scam baiter knows everything and they still don't give in, thats not strong, thats weak, and whats even dirtier is it shows their understanding and belief that what they are doing is wrong. Its funny 'cause these people are probably religious, do you think they accept and embrace the belief that they are going to hell, or are they even deeper in the lies they tell themselves than any lies they ever tell their "customers" or scam baiters.
@tsdobbi6 жыл бұрын
I think, at least in this case, they still believed the person was some rube. Remember, he was impersonating someone they successfully scammed. So they figured they could imply the person he talked to was wrong. I mean, you figure they could have caught on when all of sudden he knows wtf hes talking about.
@darkSorceror6 жыл бұрын
Well to be honest, I figure they'd have the decency to not scam people in the first place, but that's mostly because I actually CARE about other people. I already don't understand how scammers can live with themselves, but this one was particularly despicable. Insisting to the very end that it was legitimate, despite knowing the "customer" has info on their operation. That is a whole new level of low. They didn't even have the humanity to say "yes it's a scam and you're not getting your money back ever".
