I totally agree on your take with Molten Collapse! Did Rakdos really need a boost? It’s already the top deck in both pioneer and modern

6:30 There are several zero mana unbounded creature sac outlets in Pioneer already, but a lot of them aren't on Arena yet: Nantuko Husk as you mentioned, Cartel Aristocrat (one of the original namesakes of the "Aristocrats" archetype), Varolz the Scar-Striped, and a bunch of other less useful ones from circa RTR block. There are also Woe Strider, Yahenni, and Immersturm Predator which are already on Arena. Bartolomé will be one of the best versions of this effect for sure though. 20:24 This Saheeli is either going to be busted or unplayable. Possibly unplayable for a long time until someone breaks it, or useful only in some obscure combo deck like the Rona + Mox Amber combos. But I wouldn't rule out the possibility that paying two mana to get basically the back side of Fable is good enough by itself as a midrange/value threat.

Completely agree with what you said about Molten Collapse. I almost exclusively play goblins in modern. I have barely played modern since MH2 due to Prismatic ending and Fury existing, not to mention Orcish Bowmasters further shadowbanning 1 toughness creatures. I don't see myself playing modern anytime soon if more cards like this will be printed.
@vulcanh254 Жыл бұрын
Totally agree with you about Molten Collapse. They are honestly killing formats with this kind of powercreep. They already removed most 1 thoughness creatures from the modern card pool and now they're deleting 1 drop permanents. There was a time when you actually needed to sideboard graveyard hate, disenchant effects and Pyroclasm. Now you don't need to because everything maindeck can deal with everything. That is NOT magic the gathering to me. That's how you kill modern and make it so there's only 2-3 truly viable decks.

I think Amalia is a reference to Aguirre the wrath of God, because she has a literal Wrath of God effect. That seems like something wizards developers would know about and sneak in.

squirming emergence is a 3 mana revive anything. Usually, that effect is, say, creature only for 5 mana. When people start reviving ugin on turn 4 consistently... or really, anything, yeah, thats a problem. Turn 1 Dork Turn 2 New whirlwind effect red artifact Turn 3 ... Turn 4 Squirming Emergence for 3 + whatever you added to yard on 3. Turn 1 Faithless Looting Turn 2 Grisly Salvage or whatever Turn 3 Faithless Looting Turn 4 Squirming Emergence for 8
@joshuasbrooks Жыл бұрын
Squirming Emergence being 3 mana does atleast mean you can use the 2 mana you'd usually spend on getting this sort of effect to instead hold up a counterspell. Issue I see there is building a deck with enough permanents that you can get into your graveyard whilst being able to find the space for some of your non-permanent cards that really make this good such as the counterspells. But if you can build a deck that self mills using mostly permanents with your only non-permanents being maybe this, some counterspells and removal. Not sure on the math of how few non-permanent spells vs permanent spells you need to be able to mill 7 nonland permanents by the time you can have say 5-6 mana open. There's a shot in standard, historic and pioneer/explorer though. As for modern though this card does seem very playable in allowing for a reanimator strategy to have another reasonably cheap and this time more diverse reanimation effect compared to Persist.

The word "each" on Kutzil Malamet Exemplar....does that prevent you from drawing a card if you attack with 2 creatures and only 1 of them has higher power than it's based power? Is the word "each" requiring that every creature that damages the opponent has to be augmented? Meaning you either don't attack with base power creatures in order to draw the card....or you do and forfeit that? 🤔

Molten Collapse is weird. It feels like a Golgari card to me. The Dreadbore part makes sense in rakdos but I could see it being GB. The second ability feels very Golgari being able to hit nonlands. It's weird that red and black are two of the three the worst colors at dealing with enchantments yet it can hit them.
@davidwitt5585 Жыл бұрын
Best in Show: Squirming Emergence - I think Sultai got a ton of good pieces in this set...so much so that there is almost an embarrassment of riches for the deck. It already has good stuff like Invasion of Amonkhet and such. Running stuff like Teachings of the Kirin....this feels like a quality reanimation spell and it being for any permanent type is pretty gas. Sleeper: Wail of the Forgotten - see above...same deck. Also like Itzquinth quite a bit, but the legendary aspect makes it seem hard to run 4 and/or end up with 1 or 2 rotting in your hand if you do play all 4. Trap: Vito - Good text box I suppose...but is a 4 drop in colors with really good options already at that slot.

Why is Master’s Manufactory not worded as “if an artifact etb-ed this turn”? Why does it say itself or another?
@leonardocalcagno9135 Жыл бұрын
The way mycotyrant is worded means That if you mill 4 permanents, you only descended once and therefore get only one token. It is at its best in sac decks IMO

Abuelo looks fun, and a much more fair version of Brago for edh. That being said, such a weird name. Literally "Grandfather" in Spanish. I get this set is Spanish/Mayan, trasitions like Day of the Dead have familial spirits that aren't "spooky" but the name is a little bit too on the nose.
@Villakarvarousku Жыл бұрын
In the story, he's a spirit who doesn't remember his own name, but someone says "he looks like my abuelo" and he remembers his grandchildren calling him that, so that's what he goes by. I agree that it seems very odd out of context though.

The joke with Kellan is that you make the map token, then cast Kellan for 2, then you can use the map and if you explore a creature to the top you can draw it as you attack with a 3/4.
@harrison1735 Жыл бұрын
Anim Pakal just being extra redundant versions of an Adeline effect is probably enough to justify the red splash in white humans.

I hate Amalia already. In Constructed (on Arena), the life-gain deck already makes out like a quarter of all games and is absolutely annoying and boring to play against. Now they get unlimited exploring and a board-wipe with immediate follow-up win aswell? Aweful.
