Also Ali (R.A) is one of the bravest companions of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) . He is known as Asadullah (Lion of Allah) . And Imam Hussain (A.S) is the son of Moula Ali (R.A) . He was martyred along with his 72 companions in Karbala (Iraq) . He is the leader of all the martyrs in Islam . (That's why the two of them are mentioned in the poetry)

Rah pronounced RAA h = path/road/route Haq pronounced HuQ = truth/right K pronounced as K = of Shaheedo pronounced Sh hee do = plural of Shaheed = martyr Rah e Haq k shaheedo = O martyrs of the righteous path basically addressed to the soldiers who sacrifice their lives in the line of duty. This particular song was a tribute and a motivation for the Pakistani soldiers during the Indo-Pak war of 1965. Written, composed, sung, and aired (on radio) during the 17-days war, it became an ever-green song for decades.

Here's a loose translation of some of the beginning verses: Oh martyrs on the righteous (?) path Pictures of faith/truth (wafa) The nation's winds salute you Oh martyrs on the righteous path God is (Allah hu) Those who came to set our home on fire You've put out those flames with your blood Saved so many flowers (referring to children) from orphanhood Saved so many spouses of springs (referring to wives?) The blooming field's atmosphere salutes you (lmao this is the worst translation-this sounds so beautiful in Urdu) (Sorry, can't find the energy, skills, or patience to translate the rest-hopefully someone else can complete it. To sum it up though, it's a tribute to the country's armed forces.)

You need to check out Rahat Fateh Ali too, start with "Afreen Afreen" which is also Momina's debut song and most watched CS song after Pasoori and Tajdar e Haram. Then you react to "Chaap tilak" from where he collaborated with Abida Parveen and this is the classiest Coke Studio performance to date. And last but not the least "Rung" where Rahat collaborated with late Amjad Sabri whose high notes you also observed here. Amjad and Rahat are from 2 biggest Qawali gharana (Sufi musical families) of Pakistan. Amjad was unfortunately martyred by some terrorists soon after this season. Rahat's Uncle and mentor Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is the biggest Pakistani global icon from 90s and one of the greatest singers we ever produced.
@legendofnothing12 жыл бұрын
And btw in Pakistan and India (who were one before partition) many classical singers come Musical families called Gharaana (meaning family) where Music has been passed down for centuries where they pick a family's musical head who goes on to choose his successor as well. Rahat is Nusrat's successor.

A little background and English translation, as best as I could translate... For you! 🙂 Background Aye Rahe Haq K Shaheedo anthem (tarana) was sung by Madam Noor Jahan after Pak India war in 1965 to raise the morale of Pakistan Armed Forces. It was released in October 1965 after the war. "Aye Raah e Haq" Tarana makes us remember the sacrifices given by the Pakistan Armed Forces, Civil Servant and even civilians, who gaved up their lives to protect their homeland. Lyrics in English A Tribute to those who lay down their lives for this soil. The soil that resides within our hearts and is dearer then life. For my country Pakistan! (N.B The lines write in Urdu at the beginning of the song) Oh martyrs! On the path of righteousness, You are the epitome of devotion and piety. The very air of your country salutes (Salaam) you, Oh martyrs! On the path of truth (N.B Salaam - a shorten form - is more then a salute it means, "On you I send the Mercy of Allah") Allah hu! (N.B Allah Hoo (Allah hu) is a traditional Sufi chant (dhikr) consisting of the word for God) Those that came to set ablaze, our homes and land, You doused the flames, with your sweat and blood. Saved you have, so many flowers from becoming orphans, Preserved you have, many springs of love from turning barren. The very breeze of your land salutes (Salaam) you. Oh martyrs! On the path of righteousness. In the face death, you walked up to lay down your lives, Hope! The Prophet of God would have embraced you. Ali would sway in ecstasy, over your bravery. Hussain would have exclaimed in utter delight, (N.B Ali is the cousin of the Prophet and the fourth Caliph. Hussain is the grandson of the Prophet of Islam) "May the Glance of Allah Smile upon you." Oh martyrs! On the path of truth. Pffff...! Oh boy this was difficult. I am not a poet, so, hope this helps.

there is a lot of translation mentioned in the comments, so I thought it might be a good addition to know the history of the song, This song was a game changer actually, there was a war between India and Pakistan in 1965, Pakistani was a small country compared to India, with a limited army, There was a soldier on the border fighting for their country, they were dying and losing hope, Noor Jahan also known as Malika-e-Taranam (Queen of the Melody) sang 2 songs on the radio, 1- Aye Rah-e-Haq k Shaaheedo 2- Ae Putar hatan te nai wikde this song restores the spirit and hope of the soldiers and they wrote history, they kick out the Indian army back to their homes that is why the song says: Ur: Lagane Aag jo aaye the ashiane ko, wo shohlay apne laho se bhuja diye tm ne, Eng: Those who came to set our home on fire You've put out those flames with your blood

Omg, you are back!! How did I missed you over the last few days? Dang… Welcome back!! I see that you are right back in your element, eh! Good on you. I also see that people have been kind enough to share the English translation for you here. Hopefully, that makes sense. The ladies from Tu Jhoom were both there. The one who started that song Naseebo was there as well as the big hair lady who is basically a legendary Sufi artist - Ms. Abida Parveen was there too. I saw the smile you had when she came and when Rahat Fateh Ali Khan came. Good on you to remember them from before. I also saw the wow that you uttered when late Amjad Sabri Saheb came. He is the guy you haven’t heard before and main reason is that he was killed unfortunately a few years back. He was well known for Sufi music / qawwalis and naats but as you know, bad people exist in every region of the world and someone just couldn’t see this most humbled and nice guy alive and had him killed in broad daylight during traffic. It has been a tragedy for Pakistan indeed. Pakistan’s wars in the past have been with India basically. There were two main ones: one in 1965 and one in 1971. Both countries / sides attest to having the other start the war but in any case, this song was sung by the queen of melody, late Ms. Noor Jahan, to pump up patriotism and pay tribute to the fighting troops and those who were sacrificing their lives on ground, in the air and in waters for the wellbeing and safety of Pakistan. This song was reinvented here. You see, military plays a huge role in the safety and stability of Pakistan in general and there has been a huge respect for military officials throughout history. Pakistan spends more portion of its finances on military advancements than on any other infrastructure or field. It has to for the sake of safety of its borders…. Great interpretation again about this song. You impress me wit your intelligence every time 👏👍😊. Cheers!

This song was sung by a very famous female pakistani singer name "Noor Jahan". She sang this song at the time when Pakistan and India were at war. Pakistan was to be independent state for Muslims. Therefore this song has alot of "patriotic" , "spritual" & "religious" elements incorporated into it. This song has metaphors, simile, irony and has a literature like structure to it. Very"Powerful" words are being used here. Her songs also played a huge role in adding to the courage of the soilders and winning the war. It was dedicated to all the soilders who were in the line of duty at the time. It's very inspiring, if you understand the language, it makes your hair stand up.
