This is Suga's own solo side project (using his name as Agust D) with his own budget and released to fans for free. He created from music to mv production, all his concept and idea. He incorporated modern day instruments with Korean traditional instruments .

This MV has a lot of Korean history references, better watch MV explained. DKDKTV explained quite well (youtubers are Korean). Daechwita means marching, marching for arrival of king or military march for war, so it implies ADUST D is king but might also the ARMY make him the King. (The gun is named ARMY).

I think the King represents Yoongi's past self (or the person he fears he could become) who is drunk on greed and success, and now a tyrant to those around him. (Notice how the King becomes more unhinged as the video progresses). Since BTS debuted, Yoongi was always very open about his desire for success, wealth, and status -- It's all throughout his lyrics. His family didn't have a lot growing up so I'm sure these dreams meant a lot to him in his trainee and early debut days. I think the lower-class rebel Yoongi represents his present self who realizes how dangerous his greed is becoming, which is why he chooses to kill the King in the end of this story (in a coup planned together with the butcher). The lyrics in the bridge sum up the main theme of this song really well: I got everything I ever wanted What more'll make me feel contented I wanted clothes clothes Then money money Then goal goal Now what's next Yeah, what's next Here comes my reality check There's nowhere higher I only looked up and now I wan to look down And put my feet on the ground. There are so many layers to this song: The historical references, the dis/flex track aspects, Yoongi's own rags to riches story, etc. There is so much to unpack it could honestly be made into a book, lol.

The live version didn’t have an in-person audience but it was live streamed to 1.33 million people around the world. Yoongi has said that the King represents his past self, the greedy selfish part of who he used to be, and the peasant is his more humble present self. Also, the butcher in the beginning is also the executioner; their look exchanged at the beginning of the vid was them plotting the betrayal and execution of the King. Also, the antique gun he used to shoot the King.... is legitimately called Army. =0)

I love to watch reactors reacting to this for the first time. It's so dramatic and full of inferences which you need to watch DKDKTV to find out about. It's shocking, dramatic and the set is incredible. SUGA is related to the last Queen of Korea but Jin and Taehyung are also from the royal Kim line. You need to watch the behind the scenes of this video and Yoongi practicing the sword routine. Also watch the Sowoozoo version that they did for FESTA 202. Did you notice the drawing of Bang PD? Yeah this is an awesome song/mv, definitely Agust D at his best. I still think 'First Love' is my favorite Suga song, but this one is right up there. The exxplanation I've read is that the king represents the big kpop and media companies (pay attention at the lyrics) and that Suga and the others 6 boys with him when he come to get the keys is BTS to challenge the system. Also Army is there, represented by a girl. They enter the arena with the car at full speed. When they stop, you pay attention you'll see that he shows a portrait that resembles Bang PD (it's hilarious actually kkk). Than the king (the system) sentences Suga (BTS) to death. But them Suga and BTS were already strong and had Army with them, represented by the people in black kneeling and head banging with Suga. The executioner represents not only Army but everybody who admires BTS, when frees Suga and gives him the gun (that you can also see as Army) to shoot down the king. BTS wins. If you thought this was Suga's best, then you need to invest the time to listen to the trilogy tapes/album. Daechwita was on his second Agust D mixtape. Agust D MV was on his first Agust D mixtape. Haegeum and Amygdala are on his final trilogy Agust D D-Day album. Through his alter ego Agust D, he raps about his Korean underground haters that called him a sellout for going into an idol boy band - BTS. After watching the Agust D trilogy, listen to BTS's Idol, as this comes full circle on the haters of Kpop haters. Also the Agust D collaboration song of Snooze is one of the most beautiful rap songs ever!!!! I literally cried, Suga is a pure raw urban linguistically prolific rappers of this generation!
