After breakfast in Trout River Campground, Gros MorneNational Park, I'm heading just down the road to Killdevil Lodge and convention Centre for the first Horizons Unlimited Travellers Meeting to be held in Newfoundland. It was originally scheduled for 2020 but we all know what happened to traveling plans that year. I get to ride between the Tablelands and Green Gardens and stop in Woody Point for ice. I have no idea of what to expect but I am looking forward to this event.
The day that triggered the filling in and paving of a dangerous gigantic pot hole: • Rolling ROCKSToc Day 1...
The day I lost the trailer off the back:
• It Could have Been Wor...

When you spoke of the spot where your trailer decided to leave you, all I could think of is... that video is the most valuable motorcycle trailer towing lesson I've ever seen, to this day, I think about that video and double & triple check my hitch and latch every time I tow. Many thanks for that lesson, Jim 😁👍👍

It was and still is a good lesson. We all can make mistakes and I have made the lights and safety chain procedure part of my routine when hitting the road. I'm always glad to bring the video up.

Had to laugh at checking out the trees . Being a rural rider myself we all have checked out the trees , on my favorite rides the best pull offs are memorized to make this a little easier. Just finished a 2 week base camp trial using my van as a bedroom (i like more comforts than you) had a couple good rides before weather turned to winter again. And usual packed too much of what I didn’t need,and not enough of I did .had fun just the same as always keep um coming

I've weeded out a lot I don't need but still have a lot of things I want lol. Last year I had to think 4-6 weeks out in terms of clothing etc.. Going to be the same this year. Almost 4 seasons but not quite. Great that you've already gotten out. Weather and contract work will keep me from hitting the road for 3 months but I need the prep time anyway.

You do quite well pulling that heavy camper. I own several trailers and obviously I pull with a sport trike now but ran a standard Goldwing for years pulling trailers and there are times it got tense. The ST13 is a great and tough machine I do have one constructive criticism at times you spend too much time showing cooking and food prep. I typically fast forward through the food portions not only on yours but others videos for the same reason.
@OldGuyonaBike
@OldGuyonaBike Жыл бұрын
The Honda Sport Tractor 1300 has served me well hauling the Mini Mate. Feel free to fast forward past food segments and skip any videos that have anything to do with food or cooking in the titles. I do try to label the videos as accurately as possible. It's funny, but I also get a lot of subscribers who want to see more content at camp. They love seeing the tent trailer being put up more often and they are intrigued by how much cooking gear I carry and the meals that I can make in camp. Some of the biggest complaints are that I make them too hungry. I have others who complain because I do not do interviews with other people on the road... now, that is something I might change in the future. My channel is what it is... a sort of video diary of what this old guy was doing on any given day while on the road. That includes riding, sightseeing, camping, making food, eating food, campfires, bourbon and even doing laundry on the road. I had someone quite offended by my underwear on a line. As i edit each day's video footage, I am never totally sure what I am going to find.

@@Ruleof2plus1 There is a fine line between constructive criticism and trying to shape someone else's channel to one's own preferneces. I didn't take offense, I am always trying to improve the quality of my videos... I don't always succeed. I sometimes rush videos because I have so much footage from last year to get thru. That being said, I was a little annoyed that it seemed as if you were asking me to stop the cooking segments because you didn't personally want to watch them. It's not that big of a deal... I'm just going to continue doing what I am doing and already planning ways to make the channel more interesting to a broad audience as I get ready for hitting the road again in the summer.

Does your front tire on your bike Cup bad because of the weight of the trailer I'm having trouble with my front tire cupping I think it's from the weight of the trailer anyting you know would be a help thanks
@OldGuyonaBike
@OldGuyonaBike Жыл бұрын
I had trouble with the first two front tires I ever had on this bike. I think Bridgestone was OEM and the 2nd was an Avon Storm. I put on a fork brace and never had that problem again. Have not seen any cupping in the 4 years of hauling the trailer. I regularily put 20-24,000 on a front tire (12,500-15,000 miles) on a front tire. Usually go 1 front to 2 rears for convenience in tire changes.

Commend any Utube content creater, critism will always be there from viewers. Its your Channel, do as you see fit. Yes I too roll though a few stop signs, actually, most stop signs where I have clear vision in all directions and there is no traffic in site. If I remember right, most accidents involving motorcycles occur at intersections. I for one am not waiting in one any longer than neccessary, I get out of there.
@OldGuyonaBike
@OldGuyonaBike Жыл бұрын
I never take a chance at intersections but make sure I have really clear lines of sight. Always prepared to stop and wait but especially when hauling the trailer, I would prefer to slow down, make sure I am clear and then keep going. A little secret. Out eyes on a screen don't preceive speed as well as we do out on the road. I usually speed up my road footage by 10-20% and there are times when what looks like a rolling stop wasn't really rolling... just a very short stop.

@@jefflink4671 I'm pretty well ATGATT myself and constantly monitoring traffic and what's on the side of the road. We can't be careful enough. I've got another 2 months of snow here and the only way i keep sane is by editing last year's rides.
