By Susan's definition, it is the celebrity and luxury lifestyle. I think her home looks cheap, unimaginative and gauche but that is what she sees as wealthy. She might have been born into penury and this is her way of saying she has 'arrived' but in saying that, I agree with your sentiment. All fur coat and no knickers, as the saying goes. As far as people on benefits go, she might be considered to be on the Forbes list among her contemporaries.

@@nonsensetalk8953 Cause there is sad people like you. Sad feminist that do not think praising of men is justified, cause they are men. (AND THEY GET MORE PRAISE!) (Fact is........Children living with their fathers suffers less than children of women.- Just look at rape and violence when it comes to women having costudy.) Why ain't we talking about that fact? Instead of something as subjective as "MEN GETTING MORE PRAISE" Well....... Rather live at my father growing up than with my mother, that is for sure. (My mother is not the best example of a good parent nor a single mom.) If you look into the stats, you would realise that the rape part is in fact true, children living with only their mom, they more often get raped than if you lived with your father.) That is factual. So why shouldn't we praise single parents that are men? Why shouldnt we?

@@nonsensetalk8953 And where does that stem from? That "single" moms more often than married women turn to drugs and poor habits. Which invites bad company into your home which causes all sorts of bad things to happen. So here I am 50 years old, 3 amazing adult children raised and loved, on my wages as a Licensed Practical Nurse. I live in an apt, have a 5 year old car, and no exciting social life to speak of, but others it seems have a great life compliments of the government. I remember always feeling guilty when my children were young because I had to work so much, and I also remember feeling jealous of other moms who got to stay home every day. Pisses me off slightly, but then I remember I taught my children a very valuable lesson in life... *Self Sustainability*

I grew up in a benefits household because my Father left my Mother but I'm grateful because I always had my Mother there, She was always there and we have a fantastic relationship. Maybe you should have thought it through and considered your priorities? We never had much but we had Family and 3x meals a day, anything we did get we appreciated and I love my Mother She's the best and I don't judge Her for choosing to be a Mother over working for crap that won't fit inside your coffin when you leave this world. I was honoured to move her into the house I bought because She gave up so much for us or did She give up anything? If you ask Her She will always say that She was happy to see Her children grow up. As I said we never had much but time is our most precious thing and time is what I had and have with my Mother, we don't value material things as much as others do and we are happier for it. God bless.

Because Carl and Suzanne have worked from early years up to nearly 50+ years old. They probably have some kind of illness/disability benefit that functions a bit like an insurance and is calculated to related to what taxed income they have had for x numbers of working years. Which totally makes sense. A lot of jobs that are low paid tend to wear off people before the formal age of retirement, yet still these jobs are needed so it makes sense there are something like a type of illness pension.

In Spain the benefit system is totally different, Those who have never paid into the system get nothing back, Every month a small percentage of your salary is deducted and when you are unemloyed you receive a maximum of 70% of your salary for a maximum of 24 months which is more than enough time to find another job, People in The UK should be paid their benefits in food vouchers so that they cannot use it for alcholol and cigarettes which are not a necessity, In The UK many take advantage of the benefit system and have no intention of finding a job and just play the system for as long as they can get away with it. Thats is why the country is in such a state as the taxpayers are funding these lazy people who live better than those who actually work. Shame on those people who are lazy and have no pride!

God you folks sound bitter and ignorant... So if y'all become seriously ill when about 50+ and too old to reeducate yourself from a lowincome hard work you will reject illness/disability benefits based at your previous income because someone who got kids before they could support themselves need the money more? Since Suzanne had worked up 'til 8 months before this was filmed and she is 50+ she could aswell have saved up to the greater part of her car. Old people have also paid off morgatges to their home so they can thereby spend some that younger people with more obligations can. And of course they deserve it.

In addition, the U.S requires you to update your information annually and do a interview for programs like EBT (food stamps) and EFT (welfare cash) require an annual interview and you have to submit your bank statements and other documentation (depending on the state) to verify you aren't earning an income or telling the truth about your situation. It's not easy staying in American welfare programs so seeing this is fascinating.

@@sashalove83 Craig’s son shouldn’t be coming home to an empty house. At the most his father should only be working part time. The child’s well being is paramount and having his father there when he gets home from school is essential.

@@90sbaby1 I understand Vicki’s frustration, Carl is a blatant piss taker and is taking advantage of the system.

Greetings from Canada. Disabled people in Britain have it made compared to Canada. Here a disability pension is about $1,200 per month with benefits for medicine, glasses, and dentist. A one bedroom apartment in my city rents for about $1,500 per month. We are 10 years behind building subsidized housing, so not much point getting on that wait list. Our premier believes disabled people should work to supplement their pension. Food banks are overwhelmed.
