For sure, being a gracious and good-natured explainer to his buffoonery is the best chemistry. Although the ones that can skillfully roast him are great too. The odd dud is when the person has neither of these skill sets.

Very few comics could pull this off. He knows he's pretending to be someone else. They know he's pretending to be someone else. The temptation would be for the person being interviewed to try and throw him off his game, but he is so quick witted that he's able to retort anything they throw at him and maintain character.

These interviews are masterpieces for the ages! NOTHING compares to these interview skits, though Zach G. tried with Between Two Ferns which was funny, but not to ths level. Jiminy Glick is his best character Martin did. Martin Short is a brialliant icon of comedy, a giant for all-time.
