​@@patrickthomas8890My take on it is that producers underwrite a film and put their name on it, but are not necessarily intimately involved in making it. Spielberg might be more involved than some. Anyway, that's how I took it.

Spielberg keeping a straight face and continuing with his story...as Short slides out of his chair an back into it...is perhaps the funniest thing I've ever seen. Martin Short is a genius. And I had no idea Spielberg would be able to perform that well.

That Spielberg understood his role & kept talking earnestly about his craft (keeping good pace) when Flick took off for the food table, is wonderful! This interview alone shows that Spielberg "gets it". No wonder he's so successful 💝

I've mined KZbin for every Jiminy Glick video ~ and this one is my favorite. Martin Short is on top of his game with the perfect balance of hilarious cerebral calisthenics and comic physical humor. Steven Spielberg is the *perfect* straight man.

oddly enough, it's funny because there's a glimpse of truth in the joke: many producers only see a cut of the actual movie or some scenes the director wants to show them. That wasn't the case with Spielberg of course, but it happens more than we think.

I suspect Spielberg was allowed to ramble like that so Martin could do the shots of him sneaking off to eat later and then edit them into Spielberg's interminable story.

Glick is King of the talk show genre. A classic interviewer, hard to believe he was preceded by Carson, Douglas, etc. But, every genius has his flaws. He has an eating disorder. Please, Glick, get help, we don't want to lose you to heart disorder.
