Wow! This normally should not be possible unless less they have sabotaged one of the most critical safety circuits. Does this elevator have passive interlocks? It seems like they completely defeated the shaft door safety circuit which should normally prevent the elevator from moving at all in case there is an open door.

+dykodesigns2yt The elevator should have not moved at all with the lower fright doors open, I knew of an old traction fright elevator with these type of landing doors and they did have interlocks. At my previous job the fright elevator had mechanical/electrical interlocks on all three landings. Wired in series any landing gate not closed or making a poor electric contact, elevator would not move.

Do you know if this elevator is still in regular use? I wonder if this elevator is not used anymore, but the power is still turned on. The lack of a strap on the 2nd floor door makes me wonder that. The building owner could get in HUGE trouble for not correcting this major violation of elevator codes. I wonder if the interlock was bypassed because the door was hard to close or would not close. The elevator operating with the shaft door open is very dangerous!

+upanddownadventures that elevator should have been "red tagged" as unsafe shut down till repairs were made.

Wow that should be reported. Just like you said, very unsafe and extremely dangerous. BUT this was an awesome find and video.

Those are payne fixtures i believe. Not sure though.

Does that outside elevator door need some lube / grease to make it slide easier. It shouldn't be that hard to pull that door down. Maybe that's why the previous person left it opened.

It had an interlock fail and you didn't take the opportunity to look in the shaft? Sure it's dangerous, but as long as you are extremely careful I would have done it.

You have never "written" one of these Elevators before?

Wow! That is most certainly against code. Someone could get injured or killed by it. Hopefully this is fixed by now. If not, then this elevator is probably red tagged now. This is when elevators need modernizations.
@Anatole22019 жыл бұрын
They probably did that so they didn't have to close the heavy door on 1

+DoverElevatorFan1 That is still against elevator codes.
@Anatole22019 жыл бұрын
***** That is true and they should just automate the doors not jamb interlocks that is very unsafe just like you said

The belt I wear around my bike shorts fastens me in better than this stupid elevator.
