After a big crash racing Mx at Laidley,Queensland,AustraliaEarly 1987.,I was left in a deep, deep coma.Bleeding on my brain, heart failure, kidney failure, lung failure, ect, ect.Doctors were going to turn my life support off after three months in my coma.Only my parents placed my radio beside my bed, playing your 'No Second Prize''.Playing it day and night to try and wake me from my coma. Then one day,I opened my eyes to your song, seeing my parents, family and friends all break out in tears,he's awake. Then I was out cold again and again.Every time I opened my eyes, its was to your music Jimmy Barnes.Your music saved my life.Sing forever Jimmy, your music is my life, thanking you.Read more Show less Reply 1

This song is immortal... sad my mate wasn't.... a brain tumor got him in 2010.he fought on bravely and was everything this song represents.... some thought he didn't conform to their expectations... others looked down on him for associating with outlaws but he was a better person than most... there was a lot of big men with broken hearts shedding tears at his funeral... may not have been respected by some... but sure was respected and appreciated by those who knew him well.... we all still miss him.... this one's for you Johnno.

In November 2018, Jimmy wrote "stand your ground" on a photo of him and me taken at the meet and greet in the Maldives two months earlier. At the time I was locked in a Family Court battle where my violent ex was demanding half my property. I was also self representing in court. I took that photo with me each time I went to court and I sat it on the table in front of me. Those 3 words written on a 6 x 4 photo empowered me and gave me so much strength. The matter eventually settled out of court. I had to pay the violent person far too much #violencepays but at least I didn't lose my home.

One thing I have noticed is that one of the reasons 80s music was more lively and catchy is because they actually opened their mouths wide and belted out the voices right from the depths of their hearts. Today's singers sound like they injected themselves with something and tried to sing just before passing out. They barely open their mouths and sound absolutely dead, and thats also one of the reasons they all sound the same.
