Back in 1756 was a kind of "independent" state called Archbishopric of Salzburg as part of the Holy Roman Empire. It is complicated. But the point is you can refer him as Austrian because Salzburg is part of Austria now, or either Roman... He made his carrier in Vienna, so lets just call him Austrian...
