The first (of many) Buffett concert I attended was at Reed Green Coliseum in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, 1974. Jimmy was an unknown then, an alum of the University of Southern Mississippi. Tickets were $5. I was hooked. He remains one of my all time favorite singer/ songwriters. Despite his success and loyal fan base, I think he is under appreciated by many in the industry. He was a unique talent who could stir that bit of Caribbean soul in us all. I want to go back to Island too, Jimmy. I’ll tip a Tin Cup For a Chalice in your honor.

As soon as we hit the causeway, we would blast this song with the kids dancing in the backseat and as they grew, singing along. Wonderful memories. Thank you, Jimmy, for helping create them. Rest well. On a different topic, Josh Leo and Timothy B. Schmit (with short hair) playing in the band. From what I've read, Schmit coined the phrase "parrothead".
