Thanks, Otis. That man changed my life when I read a "Pirate Looks at Fifty" in 2005 on a surfing trip. Jimmy Buffet is the reason I am pilot and operate a GA aircraft. He is the reason I am a sailor, and skipper a Catalina 22, "Escapade". This is a ver sad day for me as I just found minutes before seeing Joel Woody's post. I love you, Jimmy!! Your are the inspiration for my adventure.

It's sad that the older we get we see more and more people passing on that we listened to on the radio for years. I remember when margaritaville first got airplay. You couldn't be in any bar without hearing that song at least once or twice every hour on the jukebox. Great song. R.I.P Jimmy. Your music will live until the end of mankind.

As an event producer & stage manager -- it says everything about who Jimmy was -- he took care of the crew. He fed them and treated them with humanity. That came through the PA at every show and right into our hearts. Thanks for sharing this Otis & Tom.

Buffett was a total American original. He did the music he wanted to do, the way he wanted to do it. Jimmy's music was many things - fun, funny, joyous, irreverent, often profound, sometimes silly and occasionally even sad. But it was never drab or negative. Ain't never gonna be the same without Jimmy.

My favorite Buffett song is whichever Buffett song I’m listening to at the moment. Buffett, Lightfoot and Croce’s music was the soundtrack of my life. Thanks for the insightful look into behind the scenes.

a solid approach to listening. i took jimmy and gordon for granted which was beyond foolish. a bluegrass band i saw recently did a croce song a month shy of him being gone 50 years. i was 7 years old but still remember his death being announced the morning after it happened. thanks otis.

Nobody's favorite is any less important than my own, but for me, it's "That's What Living is to Me", "Travelin' Clean", or "Fruitcakes". But you can't pick just one. I guess we all have to go home sometime; and for Mr. Buffett, someone had put the candle in the window. Greetings from Australia.

My buddy Mario Friedel played bass, guitar and sang with him on the first album, after a few years with John Hiatt. Mario has nothing but great things to say about him, except the small amount of regret in deciding to be a teacher, principle, and football coach, ending up here in Chippewa Falls WI for the last 35 or so years. We still play music jams together here, always playing a John or Jimmy song….. my personal favorite Buffet song is Come Monday. RIP

Gives me the feeling that Mr. Buffet was just the kind of guy you’d want him to be as a showman and a boss.. also makes me think about his loyalty to his crew and band who delivered his vision of style and entertainment night after night and provided for them and their families for decades.. I hope they are set up well as they are now out of one of the best jobs you could ever have in the music business.. RIP Jimmy Buffet

I can’t narrow it down to one song as my favorite, so I’m gonna break the rules. I think Jimmy would be ok with that. Today my favorites are “In The Shelter, and “Lovely Cruise”. So with that in mind, with wind in our sails, and water in our shoes I bid my farewell to Captain Buffet. I know he’s out there whispering his wisdom amongst the song lines. Let’s tune in to the cosmos and listen. We just might pick up on a wire from the cosmic coconut telegraph.

I'm in a Buffett style band, so we do a lot of Jimmy's songs. When I first heard 'Don't Chu Know' off the album 'Barometer Soup' (Lots of great songs on that album!). I had to sing that song. Like a lot of Jimmy's songs, full of humor and wisdom....I wish I had written something that good!....Robert Frost wrote this....A poem, “begins in delight and ends in wisdom.”....Jimmy wrote, and lived his life like that.....Loved the guy, wish I could have met him....Jimmy you will be missed, thank god we've got your music!!

I've met wealthy people that were down to earth and never forgot where they came from and others that were complete aholes. I always said rich/famous people that were still humble truly had class, not the others. It's nice to hear Buffett had that class.

Otis I follow you and love all your videos. The recent one you did on Robbie Robinson was great. I have not felt like this since B B King passed away and this is much worse. My entire family, my wife, daughters, sister, brother in law, sister-in-law……every summer begins with when is Jimmy Buffett. We are in Columbus Ohio but we travel to Finscinnati to see our son of a son of a sailor. The last few years we all joined the Cincinnati Parrotheads Club and joined in their shenanigans! Jimmy Buffett is a huge loss. There is no greater summer fun than a Buffett show. My prayers to the family and his band mates. Again, thank you, I respect what you do. Bubba RIP Also what a cruel summer to lose Dead and Company and Jimmy Buffett. I need a boat drink
