Jimmy's mind and game is just on whole another level right now. His life story, under-recruited, playing junior college and then transferring into Marquette, four year college player, and then his rise to stardom in NBA, his ascension to what he is right now is unique. The Bulls, Wolves, and the Sixers sure could've used him, but he needs to be the first option like he is on the Heat.

Jimmy is the only player that's playing right now that is cut from that Mamba cloth. They're not exactly the same, and they're their own players. However, Butler has that Mamba mentality. He doesn't have that raw athleticism that other players get by on. He literally willed himself into the league and then willed himself into the superstar player he is today.
@YunisRajab

He doesn't need to be the first option. He just needs to be treated like a star and not an afterthought. He can easily fit with other stars if they had good coaching. The key here is coach spo

If not the Warriors, as soon as the Miami Heat beat the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1st round. Miami might mess around and be the 1st #8 Seed to win a 🏆 in NBA history. They got the Championship pedigree already. Pat Riley, Coach Spo (2006, 2012,2013), Kevin Love on the Cavs (2016), Kyle Lowry on the Raptors (2019).

Jimmy is great but there is no comparison with Kobe except mentality. Kobe in his prime was this out-worldly beast going off for 9 straight 40 point games, 4 straight 50+, 62 in 3Qts, and 81 point game type of player. Kobe's skill set and mentality were in another level, especially in the playoffs. He beat the most 50+ win teams out in the tougher Western conference playoffs and also won back to back rings with no other 75 greatest player on his team. People criticize Kobe's stats but in actuality, Kobe from 2001 to 2012 had some of the highest advanced ratings for a SG position. Too bad some people downplay Kobe's greatness.

Simply because somebody HAD to state that Butler is the closest thing to Kobe forces the conversation that somebody today could be closely compared to Kobe. I think the truth is that Kobe's level of talent and force is undeniably the greatest, but because of what we've seen from Butler it had a handful of people begging the question. To me, I feel like Kobe provided his box scores to LA during the regular AND post season. With Butler, this dude shows up when it means the most, even on an 8th seed team, which could be significant. It's also possible that witnessing Jimmy's level of talent in the playoffs further amplifies the audience's feeling that this dude knows (somehow) to show up and furthmore show up heavily to be a significant force in the post season.

Jimmy has no game like anybody I've seen before in basketball. It's beyond just playing the right way, Jimmy and Spo would change an offensive scheme in the middle of the shot clock just because that misdirection would lead to an open shot in the 4th. Jimmy TO ME is the greatest player to put on a heat uniform. Wade was amazing LeBron was great but Jimmy is just different

Before I watch this. I had the SAME thought last night. Specifically regarding Butler's shot fake, pump fake, to draw contact. He went for 10 free throws last night and all I could think about is that is KOBE with the shot fake, assuming that's what yall are referring to... I watch a lot of NBA and everytime I have a thought you guys are talking about it the next day, it's trippy.

Today's game would not allow for a KOBE. I am the biggest KOBE fan but he wasnt the most efficient player. His trademark shots are considered to be bad shots in today's game. If kobe came around today with his work ethic he would have developed that 3 ball more. Mindset wise Kobe can replicated. Game wise you probably shouldn't.

You’re crazy. If kobe played in today’s nba his efficiency would go up 10 percentage points just because you’re not allowed to guard people/no one plays defense. 😂

Kobe played with less space, and teams scored less back then, Kobe wouldn’t develop a 3 because he was already a deadly 3 point shooter he had the record for many years

Jimmy "PLAYOFF JIMMY BUCKETS" Butler is the TRUEST DEFINITION of a player who makes EVERYONE AROUND HIM BETTER! Everywhere he's been, he RAISES THE STANDARDS and the expectations of the players and teammates around him. Jimmy Butler isn't just a great player...he's a CULTURE. That's why he's a perfect fit for a Pat Riley/ Eric Spoelstra team. Jimmy has that quiet, but aggressive type of leadership. I wouldn't go as far as the KOBE comparisons, Kobe was far more naturally talented and more in your face with his leadership but Jimmy is his own brand and no one is like him. This run is reminding me alot of Dirk's 2011 championship run with the Mavs...let's see how far Jimmy and the Heat can take this. Continue 2 Carry On...

J will and max weren’t disagreeing just talking parallel. Max is right that the by any means two way attitude of Jimmy is Kobe like. J will is also correct that their game is vastly different too. I think Kobe would gravitate to and approve of someone like Jimmy.

Devin booker doesn't remind me of Kobe.. I don't know why people keep saying that. Kobe was a high flyer dunking on folks... Crossing folks off and then putting them in a choke hold on defense. Taking crazy shots, and you can argue he was the one who started the 3 point transformation as he broke the 3 point record back when the 3 wasn't as popular. Booker aint that man... Stop disrespecting Kobe. Buttler has a similar mindset maybe, but he doesn't have Kobe's skills... Even when he was younger with the Bulls. He wasn't even better than Rose.
