If the family asked for this beautiful song, and the artist, they did it for a reason, it’s nobody else’s place to judge. I’m sure Garth and Trisha didn’t just walk in and start singing. These, especially this type of services, are planned by the family. The family has the say so. All these offended judgmental people need to sit down somewhere. Worry about ya self.

What?! This was an insult, NOT an honor. I'm pretty sure that no one sang this song at John Lennon's funeral. "Imagine there's no heaven." So who picked this stupid song for Carter's funeral? Just watching the official music video for this song should convince you that it is brain dead stupid. There's John and Yoko walking into their huge white mansion with a huge white grand piano. He has $200 MILLION in the bank and he's singing "Imagine no possessions." Yeah right! What a sick joke!!!

I liked this version better than the later version of the same singers and same song sung at former president Jimmy Carter’s funeral in Washington a little of a year later. Garth Brooks was the main singer in this version vs Trisha was the main singer at Rosalind Carter’s funeral in Georgia. The acoustics in the cathedral might of helped but, I really feel this song was better sung with a male voice.

Anyways, it's safe to say the recipe that is baked into the song with the hopes of making a better world severely lacks texture and leavening agents. It simply doesn't hold water.

This was President Carter's FAVORITE song. Seeing the deeper meaning and implications of the song requires opening one's heart and mind to universal spirit. When you embody goodness, when God's compassion is seated in your heart, there is no need for the human construct of religion. The lyrics serve as a model of perfection of the spirit, the overcoming of human foibles and vices. They poetically illustrate our collective yearning for peace and brotherly love, aspirations for wholeness, the manifestation of virtue and compassion.

Easily one of the most ridiculous, silly, naive and mindless songs ever written. Sure. Imagine if the world had no problems, and everyone always got along and agreed with each other about everything, and didn't want to own anything but only share everything, and no more fighting and stuff. Yeah, except the problem is, we've been here thousands of years and we've never been able to even come close to that. Humans don't get along with each other very well, and never will. And it's not only naive, it's downright arrogant to think that somehow in modern times we're going to be able to basically overcome human nature and achieve world peace. It's simply unhealthy to live in such a fantasy world, detached from reality. Sure, do all you can to get along and not cause problems, but realize that you don't have any control over what others do. And if it's true this was Carter's favorite song, that's pretty disgusting that his favorite song was basically an ode to Communism. Makes me think a lot less of him. How a supposed devout Christian could have as his favorite song one whose opening line is "imagine there's no heaven" is beyond me.
