I enjoyed this interview. We don't get to see sane, classy, down to earth, honest, genuine, balanced, caring people anymore.

I've never seen a President honored like Mr Carter. He must have been an incredible human being....
@Pottatow21 сағат бұрын
Well he's ranked the 10th worst president in U.S history so keep that in mind. Good man but clown leader.
@heiltd128615 сағат бұрын
@@PottatowNo. That's not true. Carter's achievements in office are now being acknowledged in hindsight. Historians are reappraising his presidency. What his detractors ( generally full time nobodies) fail to understand is that Carter was an amazing human being. He had a tough presidency and maybe his character made it hard to be president. He was a great governor in Georgia at a difficult time. Essentially what you and people like you think of Carter is of no consequence when it comes to assessment of this great man. Id prefer the opinions of Admiral Rickover, Willie Nelson and Hunter S Thompson. Those giants held Carter in the highest esteem.

He wasn’t, if you lived in the 70s, you would realize what a horrible president he was, completely incompetent and because of him we had double digit inflation, unemployment and high energy prices. Home mortgage rate rates were through the roof. There is nothing good about the man.
@kristinebailey655413 сағат бұрын
He was a wonderful citizen, husband and father. A terrible president, in far over his head. I voted for him, it was the first time I was 18 and able to vote. After the way he handled domestic and foreign policy, I voted for Reagan and never voted for a democrat again.
@dalisman12 сағат бұрын
He absolutely was an incredible human being. He went out there himself and helped build houses for poor people. He resolved nuclear arms problem with N. Korea. YES: single-handedly and as an ex-president. He taught Sunday school every single week at his church into his 90s. No one comes close to Jimmy Carter post-presidency.

I was 5 when this aired. Don't remember it, obviously, but clearly remember him on TV always saying, "Enna'jee".

At least u somewhat remembered when he was in office!!
@MichaelBoltonsEntireCatalog7 сағат бұрын
@wilnerolivier7971 Yeah. It resonates when he says "shah" and "Afghanistan" also. My folks liked to keep up with events, so the evening news and 60M was in the background a lot.

He certainly wasn't a friend to Labor or workers in general and not surprised being a southern democrat. He De-Regulated Truck Driving and lowered Union membership immensely. And also started to make roads unsafe because of it.

He should have won a 2nd term. I believe that if Reagan ran against him in 1976 as opposed to 1980 that Jimmy Carter would have won 2 terms

Geez, Dan Rather is kind of brutal and mean spirited in his questioning. I noticed Mike Wallace treated him the same way in a 1985 interview.
@its_jawsh61456 сағат бұрын
31:26 and they gave him an F….Honestly this is a pretty scathing interview and critique of his leadership which is entirely justified and grounded. The saddest part is it’s all true! Pretty mediocre to bad president and a good post president. Had some tough curveballs and wasn’t able to weather it
Yes the Peace Deals were epic, giving away Panama and failure to deal with Iran hostages are also a lasting legacy.
