President Carter made a mess with Iran in 1979. But should a man be judged solely on one mistake? No, it is the whole that counts! He spent the rest of his life caring and helping those in need - almost up to the moment he was called home. There is no greater calling in life than to help the helpless, to feed the hungry and house those without shelter. He followed Jesus' instructions. Jimmy lived and died a good Christian man, and as the saying goes - "A good reputation endures forever".

I don't think anyone can say Carter didn't have the heart to lead the country or a love for those less fortunate. He had what was wanted by American voters and did his best to guide the country through some very rough times like the oil embargo and the Iranian Hostage Crisis. RIP Mr. President.

@sting114 it is not america responsibility to go and help every country ask for help. Why they did not ask Russia for help ? It is strong country too. Because of butting into other countries( like George Bush) problem, America's economy is crippled. We taxpayer suffering. I worked so hard more than 50 years in this country, paid so much tax due to high salary. I retired last year, applied for SS. I am getting less than 1/3 of what I was making. My monthly expense are more than my regular expenses including two mortgage payment. My tax money goes to unemployed illegal who made babies here and get government help medicaid from hard working like me???
