@@6StringPsychedelic The earliest recordings of him that I have heard indicate he has always been a monster player lol. I can't say I'm the most educated fan of his, though, so don't take my word for it. I really only started listening to more of him over the past few months. But yeah, I've just got a hunch that he has been an offensively good player basically forever lol

He does remind me of Jeff Beck. Singing with his guitar with great sense of melody. Also very good fellow musicians, great drums and bassplayer. Beautiful.
@scottgiuffre5024 Жыл бұрын
I've read a couple of comments that make comparison to Jeff Beck, or use the term, "reminds me of", and I mean no disrespect but I don't see it at all. Jeff Beck's skill set is extremely unique, particularly what he does with his right hand, and truly one of the greats of all time in the rock blues fusion genre. but Jimmy Herring chosen elegance and an interpretation of education into practice that far beyond what Jeff Beck does. I look at Jeff Beck in a similar way that I look at Jimi Hendrix. two of the best guitar players of all time without a doubt, Hendrix being in my top two or three, but there is a difference between guitar players and musicians that have learned the formal language of music and the rest of us. I'm not saying that Al di meola or Jimmy Herring is any better than Hendrix or Jeff Beck, but I put them in two very distinct and different baskets. overall though for my taste or something about Jimi Hendrix that separates him from the other three.
@kilimanjarno Жыл бұрын
@@scottgiuffre5024 silliness. There's obviously a strong relationship between Beck and Herring; that doesn't mean they're identical. They're doing different things. And some similar, unique things.

Jimmy brings to mind an old buddy of mine Danny Galloway , who I plumbed with and jammed music together thru the years.. He and I both hailed from Plano Texas.. He was a union musician and when a group who came through Dallas and needed a guitarist Danny was called on a lot..He played with some of the greats and was asked many times to go on tour but he hated the road and was satisfied to gig in Big D.. He loved Jimmy's style and I became a fan as well.. Sadly passed a few years ago but he loved music and went out doing what he wanted to do.. Rip Danny My wife and I miss you buddy hope you are settin' in with the great ones..
