Was thinking about this too. But actually it's just because they raise us in a different culture than their own. An Asian mother would be just a normal behaving mother in Asia. It would be normal for the teachers if they complain about the grades of their child all the time. Cause every parent would be like that and the teacher would even have the same cultural standing. Immigrant parents just don't behave in the same cultural way and that's what's embarrassing to us. Cause we are raised in this country and already know "the rules" of the culture. there was a kid in my 6th grade class in 1980...Ari Ekbetani (still remember his name) from Iran. A wild loud brash kid,but so funny. We didn't,as 12 year olds, understand why he was here.
