Someone asked about the story of this song...Well it truly is a magnificent journey through time-eternity and a utopian space called Kashmir where we can communicate on a higher level with elders of a gentle race and learn to overcome this wasted desert like land of terror by both becoming imperceptible and through the return becoming innocent to relate the experience of our journey with an eternal joy. Page and Plant baby!

I can't seem to find the name of the woderful (North African Arab, maybe Moroccan, or Egyptian) violinist, who made such a wonderful violin solo in the best ever, in my eyes, live performance of a song in rock history in this performance of "Kashmir". If anybody knows this violinist's name, I would really appreciate it. His solo reminds me of, beyond North African tunes, violin tunes of the islands of the Aegean, especially of the island of Ikaria that has the best saint-celebration- village fair-feast parties that combine feasting on grilled meat, beers and wine, live orchestras playing and thousands of people dancing traditional island collective circular dances

Hi Nigel , Am From Morocco Am really sorry about your explain the STORY of this song . listen : The lyrics were written by Plant in 1973 immediately after Led Zeppelin's 1973 US Tour, in an area he called "the waste lands of Southern Morocco, while driving from Goulimine to Tantan in the Sahara Desert .
