Rain Song was Jimmy's response to a criticism by George Harrison of the Beatles, who said Zep didn't have enough ballads. Jimmy used the first two chords from Harrison's Beatle song, "Something," as the first two chords of this song, in response.

This is from the album they put out in 1994 called No Quarter : Jimmy Page and Robert Plant Unledded...pretty cool and cheeky. When Jones was asked why he wasn't invited to be in on the project,they really didn't have an answer . Jonesey said ,did you for get my number ?

That is amongst the best versions ever performed imo. I love to play along to that exact version . Watch closely you’ll see page toss the pick on the ground before the last few bars which are played finger style. Keep watching and note the nod of approval from plant at the end. Plants ego is the size of North America - for him to nod in approval is rare. He’s not well known for being hyper critical of page but he was and is .. sometimes rightfully so

I have two sons that listen to Drake and all the other Hip Hop thats on the radio. Not hatin', just hope that one day they open their minds and learn to appreciate other types of music that is so eclectic, beautiful and diverse and that life if too short to miss out on legendary Musicians such as the Mighty Zep and Pink Floyd, Jimi, Chicago, the Doobies, the Beatles, The Who, the Stones just to name a few. I suppose the point with legacy artists is that you get transported back to when you first experienced the music and what you were. This song was the comedown track after the opening salvo on 1973's 'Houses of the Holy' (the year I was born), so inevitably I didn't hear it at the time. I rediscovered the band when I was 18 and this sends me back there, to a time when electronic music in particular was starting to gain ground. It's a different feeling.

2 things... you should now focus on the studio tracks for most of these...they remastered them and you get SO MUCH MORE. Don't get me wrong. I love all the live stuff and have seen Page and Plant together perform live several times post Led Zep. Also: seek out Encomium
