It doesn't help when people like yourself put video's on with the headline of JS's house & telling the whole world where to find it. This has been the problem from the beginning. As other's have said, this beautiful old cottage has been here for near 200 years & now it's being remembered because some scumbag owned it for a time. It should not be pulled down because of him, he'll be busy rotting in hell !! People's views have to change, it's not the cottage that is to blame. Glencoe is a stunning part of Scotland & it shouldn't be tarnished with that C**ts name ...
@alanjones4622 Жыл бұрын
I thought it had been sold onto new a lady owner after Savile´s death and she was actually living in the house. I remember the cottage when it was owned by Hamish MacInnes, the climber and mountain recue specialist and local team leader. It had to be re-roofed at one point because Hamish knocked over a paraffin heater and set fire to the place. Hamish had his workshop in the adjacent outbuildings where he developed his all metal ice axe, the first of it´s kind, and an all alloy two piece mountain rescue stretcher to which a bicycle wheel could be attached near the front end. Two sections meant two men could easily carry in the stretcher in backpack style across rough ground to the cliff. The bicycle wheel speeded up transport of a patient being pushed wheel barrow fashion instead of carrying, which is very hard work. It also helped lowering down cliff faces because it kept the stretcher off the rock and made guiding it down much easier. Hamish must surely be spinning in his grave at what the cottage has now become. Sad that such important mountain rescue history should be overshadowed by evil Savile instead of being honoured by a Blue Plaque in memory of MacInnes. He worked hard for the safety of mountaineers and walkers in Scotland and elsewhere.

Thank you Alan for the comment. I have only just seen the comments were held for review by KZbin. I also think it’s a great shame the cottage is in this state. I pulled over on my way back from hiking Ben Nevis (see other video) and had a quick look inside. I was saddened at the state of the place. It ought to be demolished if they aren’t going to restore it. I think it’ll just continue to be vandalised whilst it’s just left like this. Which no one wants to see. Glencoe is one of my favourite places and I have visited regularly these last 10 years. I first came to Glencoe in 2013 when we hiked Bidean nam Bian ⛰️
@addictedtoangling Жыл бұрын
He didnt own it at the time of his death a scottish charity owned it and it was used to bring kids from rough inner city areas to experience hiking and enjoy the outdoors etc then when the saville story broke numbskulls took it on themselves to wreck it and vandalise it so it was no longer usable so it was sold and an ayrshire based property developer bought it with the intentions of building a new bigger house on site but due to constant arseholes wrecking the place he obviously shelved the plans i can remember at the time driving up the A82 and all the the other houses along the glen had big signs up at their fronts saying this is not savilles property

What TF do people get out of doing this the man’s not here anymore he won’t see is this how they get there anger out 😡? it used to be owned by Hamish Macinnes who is a Scottish legend
@alanjones4622 Жыл бұрын
It is really sad the property has been left like this. Savile was the villain not the house. I knew Hamish MacInnes and visited his property in the course of attending his winter Scottish Climbing courses. I met him on a number of occasions when he attended our KMC annual dinners as a guest. The property should have been a monument to him, not a vilification to a toe rag who was not fit to lick Hamish´s boots clean after he had tramped through bogs to the Glen. Perhaps erect a big sign saying fuck off and sod Savile, Hamish MacInnes is king.
@AJT_1980 Жыл бұрын
That’s a good idea mate, maybe the good people of Glencoe/Lochaber could get together with whoever now owns it and sort it for a monument to Hamish? It’s been left in the state it is now for too long

It should be demolished! You don't know what creepy stuff might have gone on in there...I certainly wouldn't want to stay in it even if it was all renovated and done up! Best thing for it would for the owners to put a match to it and claim on insurance! Or would that be too obvious?!! 🤔

It's a damp, cold, poxy old mouse-infested shed that needs to be knocked down. Whoever owns it now has applied for PP to build a new modern house but got knocked back. The place should be demolished and landscaped because any structure there will be intrusive, no matter how modern.

Saville had another home in England, has it been vandalised to that extent? I really feel strongly about this, the man who owned the place before Saville was a bit of a hero of mine and was just about the total antithesis of trash like Saville and his "Celebrity" ilk. His name was Hamish MacInnes and he was a renowned mountaineer and a pioneer and developer of mountain rescue procedures, hjs exploits and adventures were the stuff of legends and it grieves me that his former home has become the target of stupid people who think that smashing windows and spraying stupid stuff on walls is any help to anyone.

I agree mate. I first visited Glencoe in 2013 when we hiked Bidean nam Bian. I’ve been up to Glencoe a number of times since. And often thought why is it being smashed up like this. It’s a shame it’s just left like it as I think if it was taken over by someone or a mountain club/MRT it would stop the vandals. Hope the place can get sorted out soon 👍🏼

@williamrae9954 I see mate. Thanks for the info. Tbh I have driven past it scores of times over the years when up in Scotland but never had chance to pull over. It was a spur of the moment thing when I’d done Ben Nevis, and on my way back to the mountain resort. I wished I’d done a better video, although there’s not much more to be seen than what I already recorded. It was also getting quite dark, which you can’t properly see on the video as I lightened the picture when I edited it. Also I was getting soaked, I jumped out the van wearing a t-shirt and wasn’t fully prepared for it 😂 Thanks for watching and commenting mate 🙌🏽
