The fact that he made sure to ask Mrs. Farley permission first, and she was so excited because she loves when anyone talks about Chris makes it even better. Sandler is the best.

During all this quarantine business, I have printed out dozens of pictures of friends, family, musicians, inspirational figures and I have a picture of Chris Farley, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, and David Spade and they are all smiling, but Chris Farely just has his head thrown back in laughter, open mouth, eyes closed, cracking up. You can tell he was the life of the party in that photo and likely the life of all parties.

@@melissasaint3283 Farley went to rehab 17 times but his demons and insecurities were too much for him so Im not sure at all that thats what we should take away from the song. Its not an anti-drug song,just one man singing about missing the hell out of his friend.
@christofferjenzen78
@christofferjenzen78 5 жыл бұрын
@@melissasaint3283 Of course Sandler wishes that with all his heart. But the song is a celebration of his life, not a commercial for rehab. Since the moral of that story might be that it did not save him, although in general,i agree with you. Sandler loved him with all his flaws,so did alotta people...If people read up on Farley,I think "Be careful what you wish for and Dont be afraid too seek help and intense therapy" is what they can take away here. Of course rehab is a good thing. In his case,it becomes both depressing and inspiring. 17 stints but also 3 years sober which few know about. All those insecurities and the fame and money came so fast but didnt make him any happier. I dont know exactly when heroine came into the picture but that was the death blow. You almost wish someone held him at gun point near the end and locked him in a room and let him detox....but some people are always gonna do what they do,even if it kills them. His issues were so rooted in him,rehab couldnt do it all,he neede a network and guidance too. If people hear the song and wanna look up old Farley material,that makes me happy.But im with you,we're on the same team.

@@christofferjenzen78 I didn't think he was on heroin, was he? I thought it was mostly liquor and coke at the end, and then a morphine speedball combined with the condition of his heart? Maybe I'm remembering wrong, its been so many years. I agree though... Ive read about how hard he struggled, how often he went to Mass, how much half of him wanted to be sober and lose weight so he could live. But it seems like the other half couldnt feel hope or see a future for himself beyond the dead-end in his idols' footsteps, and wanted to OD at 33. He had cripplingly low self esteem and I think maybe a mood disorder. But most people, thank God, are not in Chris Farley's shoes. And even if they are, treatments are better now. I hope someone listens to the line about his Dad's turn to cry and reaches out for help...
@christofferjenzen78
@christofferjenzen78 5 жыл бұрын
@@melissasaint3283 Im actually trying to find the book the chris farley show as we speak. There is alotta contradictions. Lorne michaels said "As soon as I heard it was heroine,i wouldnt have any of it. I had been through that with John (Belushi),I wasnt doing it again"...although to the uninformed,it can be confused with morphine they are both opiats. Now,Im uncertain but booze,Coke and way too much weight were the other three killers. Farley really lost his mind after BHN,he was so ashamed of it,he went off the deep end. Being a too sensitive slapstick comedian critisized by pretentious, proffessional movie critics is not gonna work,you need to know some will give you shit....but after every movie,his relapses went from bad to worse. A downside with rehab if your issues are deeper, along with in his case,catholic guilt,is the shame and feeling of letting everyone down when you come back strong,then relapse over and over. Then rehab becomes a burden. Feels like he had to apologize alot for just being who he was and feeling miserable. Atleast his troubles are over and he left us alotta stuff to laugh at.

Farley, Sandler, Spade, Mike Myers, Phil Hartman, Chris Rock, Kevin Nealon, Rob Schneider, Tim Meadows, Dana Carvey, Julia Sweeney, Norm MacDonald, Ellen Cleghorn and a bunch more I know I'm forgetting. Being disrespectful towards someone who has passed away just makes you look like an asshole. Despite however you may feel about his comedy, or Late Night’s political beliefs, two things are undeniable: It’s disrespectful to act the way you have been towards someone who has passed away, and Chris Farley was an absolute legend, as well as, from what I have seen, and heard from several other actors/comedians, a phenomenal human being.

I usually stay away from watching Jimmy Fallon, but this has got be one of the most original clips I've seen him in. If there wasn't the exaggerated laughing he always does he would easily be one of the best talk show hosts. The way he told the story from arriving to ending credits had me glued to the screens, wish there were more jimmy Fallon moments like these.

We barely even get SNL here in Australia, but it's awesome to see how all these dudes are still mates, with varying levels of success. Sandler seems like an epic sorta bloke, but also how you kinda should be. Your success shouldn't change how you are, it's how you are that go you your success.

The Chris Farley tributes are, as always, heartwarming. Especially this one. But I wonder why they never pay tribute to Phil Hartman in the same way

Alreem That story is so fucked up, and it should be talked about more. Phil was really on his way to becoming an icon in comedy.

I always wonder this myself. Its like he wasnt as much loved by his co stars. Cant imagine that tho. I remember Leno actually crying when he told the passing of Hartman on the tonight show.

Probably because Phil's story is not only tragic it's fucking horrific and people don't even want to remember how it ended.

Likely because the prick who caused his murder (Andy Dick) would try to involve himself or otherwise try to steal focus.
