That is very sad to hear. I guess the Top Gear thing made her a bit famous in the UK, but she also did stuff with Tiff Needell on 5th gear. Every single thing I saw her in, her love of life and sheer enthusiasm just shone through. She just came across as a lovely, lovely person. And then there are loads of onboards of her - her competitive driving was just sublime on the Nordschleife, so aggressive but also so smooth and accurate. She should be a celebrated as a great driver, and also as a massive icon for women in motorsport. Ruhe in Frieden, Königin der Nordschleife

not even mentioned?! thats insane! i heard about her passing from jeremy clarkson, because he CARED. he worked with her several times, and had great respect for her. as someone who spent a lot of my military time in germany at the Ring, i DID see her ripping around the track in the big M5 Ring Taxi. she blew past me once in my little Golf as if i were parked along the Armco barrier. i knew of her years before she first appeared on Top Gear, and was excited whenever she was in an episode. we lost her far too soon, CANCER SUCKS! much love to sabine and her family, she will be missed dearly

I met her at a VLN race back in 2012. We were wandering around the pits and ended up in the Frikadelle pit box when my brother and I spotted her watching a pit stop of their 911 GT3R. My brother and I approached her, mentioned we shared the same last name and we ended up talking almost 10mins about our families, her parents hotel, racing etc in the middle of a race. I met Sabine in 2002 when she was running "The Fuchsrohre" bar restaurant. We went across from The UK in an AMS tuned Saab 9000 Carlsson. We stayed with Bren in his first season running Sliders Guest House, he had Joerund staying with him and we all went to The Fuchsrohe and had one of the best evenings of my life. I learned about The Ring playing GPL in 2000, joining VROC for the Saturday F2 online race series and The GPLF3R for flat out F3 gentleman's racing. Racing with people from all over the globe, way back then. Would never have done that without Alison Hine and Ken Mackay. In those days you drove the virtual Ring, you started to research the real thing, then you discovered Ben Lovejoys' "Ringers" website, sorted your car out and got over there. Basically I met Sabine thanks to sim racing..... RIP Ring Legend.

The segment on Top Gear was also what started me on a road i'm still on today: From time to time, i just sit down with whatever racing game i happen to play at the time (Gran Turismo Sport right now...), take every single car i have, sort them from what i remember to be slowest to fastest, and then go for a single lap around the Nordschleife in every single car i have! I don't do all of them in one go, but i generally go for 5-10 cars at a time, and just watch myself slowly go from cars like the Fiat 500 that struggle to even get under 15 minutes with the best possible setup i can give it, to the SRT Tomahawk that has a nasty habit of drying out my eyes from a lack of blinking, as even doing that can make you fly off the circuit!
