I am so glad that the industry and consumers are done with Girl's bikes vs Boy's bikes. I love having a step-through frame.

A lot of people still have a preconceived notion when they see a step through bike, so we thought this would be helpful to show consumers that things have changed over the years. The average consumer of an ebike is 40+ years old and we hope that people with mobility issues don't get stuck on a step over frame, due to gender assumptions of a frame design.

My first ebike was a step-thru, at 63 years old. Now, at 67, I no longer drive, and ebikes only. I also pull a trailer for shopping. At 70, I'll probably go back to step-thru, for now I have 3 step-overs.

No hate for either style of frame, as they fulfill different needs. For me, I opted for the Xpress 750 step over. I am an 'active' rider. I generally ride at PAS1 for exercise over fairly long distances (usually between 35-48 mi), so I like a geometry that allows me to put leg power to the pedals. The step over works well as the more aggressive forward lean means I can bear down on the pedals without feeling like I'm pushing myself off the seat backwards. Also I find with the way I ride aggressive pedaling benefits from the stiffer frame of a step over. I thought I would want the adjustable handlebars, but I really don't miss them because I was able to dial in my position and will now never really need to move them. I also like the additional storage with the top tube and have a top bag with a clear window for a phone with Maps and navigation and an under tube for long items like a lock cable extension. Luckily I don't have mobility issues but don't fault anyone that does or wants a less demanding ride. But on the same note, I really don't need a step through as it's easy enough for me to swing a leg over the tube front or back. Great video gents, you're very well spoken and make your points really clearly!

I agree with both of you. the two of you did not disagree. 😊 but i think my preference is also split between both of your proferences. sometimes I would like to ride more aggressively. and sometimes I would like to ride more leisurely. I pick both bikes. 😊

Good points for both ST and SO bikes. One reason I like the Step Thru is for sudden stops when you need to drop your feet down quickly to keep your balance. On the ST you can hop forward off the seat and safely stand on the ground. Being a guy, I would be careful doing this on a SO bike because.............well........got to protect "the boys".

They both have it purpose thus I can’t hate them. I love step overs because I have larger space in attach bags to the frame. For step throughs, I love them when I had an hamstring injury. It allowed me to keep riding when I lost my mobility to step over.

Very valid points. After your hamstring injury, did you go back to a step over frame?

@@freshlychargedI ended up keeping both. Step through ended up being my everyday bike for running errands. My step over has become my commute.

I have to agree with the use of the step thru frame. I’m almost 6’5” and even though I can pretty easily get my legs over it I have come to really like the idea of having a rear rack with an old milk crate to grocery shop and swinging my leg over that would be really awkward. There’s plenty of non swooping handlebar step thru bikes with box type handle bars.

Agree that step through is usually the best option for any rider. Normal top tube is not useless though, it lets you have more strength for less weight - important for performance bikes like emtb.

We do find that most full suspension mountain bikes have a top tube. There are women specific full suspension mountain bikes that have top tubes but they are slightly lower than the top tubes on Men's bikes.

Team Step Thru! I love seeing Jimmy on videos because we are the same age range and on the conservative side.

Maybe "over" vs "thru" doesn't influence handling on these 80 pound behemoths, but on "regular" bikes the handling difference is pronounced.

This is true! For ebikes, if it's city cruising that you do, then a step through is actually more convenient and comfortable.

step through for transport, high step-over for sports, i'd say. there's some control lost with step through. not a lot, but some.

are you did not explain the difference between class 2 and class 3. obviously they have different ratings, but that difference was not explained at all. now I have to actually do a little homework and research it on the web. 😊 Great video guys! A+

Frankly, I really think the step through design is for girls thing is something of the past, still, I take the step over designs because they're more robust for intense riding, and mainly... For their looks, that reason probably is more of the choice frankly
