Woo hoo!!! ❤❤❤ I hid that hefty piece of brass (and a couple other goodies) in one of Jimmy's shops when I first got to meet him at Maker Camp 2022. Wasn't sure he'd ever even find them. Haha! So cool to see it get used like this! Thanks Jimmy!

That's some knife, Jimmy. At first, I thought you were going to cast the skulls for the pommel. I think maybe you created the art of carving on the bandsaw!
@andymiller1803
@andymiller1803 11 ай бұрын
Nice execution on the skull details, but then you have a huge gap in the bolster fit up, a bunch of sanding scratches on everything else including the blade, and a really uninspired handle. The bolster really seems way too narrow for this blade as well. If this is a tool you want to use every day, that's great, but "The money is in the details." I know you can do better Jimmy. 😂

The historic way a man carries his bowie is, stuck in his pants held up with a brass stud which protrudes from the sheath to catch on top of his belt. It can be worn either side and is very comfortable and does not restrict movement.. So, you may want to build an additional sheath, for inside the belt carry , no belt loop only a single brass stud atop the presentation side. Many times a savvy sheath maker will build a frog with a belt loop which the sheath slides into again catching on the stud, which gives the wearer the choice to wear outside the pants, hanging from the belt or, removed from the frog inside the pants...fyi.

Is it just me, but when he went to quench the knife, the bevel looked like it was to cold. Because he took to long, walking way from the oven before he quenched it, the thinnest part (the bevel) cooled down almost straight away compared to the body of the knife. It seems like it wont end up with good edge retention from doing it the way he did.
