From watching many wild games it's clear that so much of his production comes from the fact that he's a phenomenal Skater. He knows how to keep the defense opposite his puckside which creates scoring chances that others wouldn't get.

Kap is naturally extremely gifted but it’s can’t be overstated how beneficial the five years he spent in Russia before eventually signing with the wild. His development wouldn’t have been nearly as successful had he immediately signed with the wild and rot for 3-4 years in Iowa.

His stamina and drive are unmatched. He’s a throwback to earlier players but also has high end skills. Vision, hands, skating, along with board work are amazing. How the hell did Kirill Kaprizov get drafted in the 5th round 135th overall in the 2015 draft? NHL GM's are huge frauds. Nice scouting and GM work. I'd like to see a video analyzing the 2015 draft in relation to KK and the scouting of Kaprizov by all teams including the Wild.

I think the success of the Wild is as a lot more than just Kap stepping it up another level (which he clearly has). But I think even bigger than Kap, is the play of Gus. Gus has been fantastic for us this season. He was pretty mediocre to bad last season. This year though, he's #1 in the league for both GAA and SV%. You can see just how calm he is. No flopping. No panic. Just steady as hell. Also the last 2 seasons, the guys we relied on for secondary scoring, Hartman, Freddy, Johansson, even Moose on occasion were MIA. This year, those guys are all playing better. The biggest thing for this team now is figuring out the PK.

@@travzimmerman1340 but they do. Guys like Rossi and Faber are keys to the future of their team. If they didnt have that space next season, they likely wouldnt be able to resign both of them. So, yeah, it is a real thing. And Zuccarello is a key factor into the Kaprizov success as well. So locking him up until he retires helps Kirills moral and keeps him happy. All the older guys they signed are producing this season. Fluke or not, its working. Last season was a wash, too many injuries at the same time to consider it a legit show of what this team can do as a whole. Net every player on the team from this season will be on the team next year. I can think of at least 4 or 5 right off the bat that wont. They will have a little room to spend as well as sign Kirill at mid season so an extension but that all depends on how the wild do this season. Dont forget they also get Yurov next season as well, who most likely will add some power and possible linemate for fellow countryman kirill.

He’s turning 28 in April next year. And to say 9-10 years is disingenuous. You’re counting teams when he was 12-13 years old. By that logic you could say most North American players play 9-10 years before they ever show up in the NHL as if we think it carries weight. He had ostensibly a 4.5 year career in the KHL before he came to the USA. Lots of nhlers have a 3-4 year career in the CHL or in europe before they come to the NHL
