Kaprisov is also arguably the most skilled player to abuse of the triangle, the way he "breaks" and reform a triangle with another teammate on the ice, once you start noticing these patterns, his game becomes so much more fun and engaging to watch

What makes them even more impressive is that playing man on man is pretty risky. The minute any one player loses his man, you run the risk of turning the slot into a shooting gallery. You can see this exact thing happening with the Habs where they fumble the 5-5 man on man and have a HUGE negative goal differential yet they are pretty successful in PK playing the box.

I've loved Kaprizov and had him on my fantasy team every year since he was drafted and has never left me down. As you can tell from my account name he is my favourite player in the league and this year he has taken his talents to another level. I've always been impressed with his abilities, especially since you know when he has the puck, he is an automatic game changer. Excellent shot, excellent passing, drives plays, high hockey IQ, he makes everyone around him better, pretty much does it all. His only weakness being he's not the best defensively, but the team around him has certainly made up for that. It's about time he get more recognition around the league and i'm so happy to see another video showcasing him and the incredible play of the Wild this year. I can't wait to see what the wild have in store in the next few years!

@benjaminlynch99586 сағат бұрын
That game was atypical for this Minnesota team. It’s exceedingly rare that they give up that many goals. The one thing the video didn’t mention is just how putrid the special teams, and in particular their PK, has been all year. It’s not often a team is top in the NHL standings while ranking 30th in the PK. That tells you how absolutely dominant they’ve been at 5v5. And the PP is middle of the pack too. If they can figure out the PK, this team has the pieces to go all the way IMO. But that PK could absolutely be their undoing in the playoffs.

The Achillies Heal for the Wild is the PK. If they can get a handle on that, they can do good things in the playoffs.
@innercityprepper6 сағат бұрын
"Achilles heel". Anyhow, other than spelling, you're correct. The PK has been awful, which maybe is balanced by 5v5 being so consistently good? It's frustrating to see smooth skill players like Boldy getting put in the box on silly tripping plays pretty regularly but honestly I think that's the price of the man-on-man coverage system. You have to play the numbers and hope the PK does "ok", and then get back to work when you're 5v5.
@PuckDropCards6 сағат бұрын
@@innercityprepper True dat! They have recovered really well on their 5x5 play. Kaprizov seems like he's on a mission this year. Especially with those spin-o-rama passes he's been doing. Kucherov for Tampa also does that same move for a while. Stop on a dime spin around and pass the puck to where a player should be. Looks like a blind pass but isn't. Just playing it to a position where you would expect to see a teammate. I would love to Kaprizov & Kucherov on the same line together here in MN.

It’s true that the Wild has never been a true contender, but they’ve only missed the playoffs twice (3 times if you count the 2020 play-in loss) in the last 12 years. That’s an objectively above average team, which makes it even more painful as a fan. The team is 8th in the league in regular season wins over the last 20 years. Playoffs are obviously a different story, but the Wild are consistently a good team if not a major playoff threat. The narrative of them being “average or slightly below” for their existence isn’t accurate, but I expect it to continue until they go deep in the playoffs some time in this decade.

Nobody is arguing the Jets aren't good, or at least decent. Winning 15 straight games is absolutely unheard of. But the Wild have shown to be more consistent, and that's ultimately why they're considered the better team. Sure, the Jets may have won 7 straight *regular-season* games against the Wild, but come playoffs that's more or less out the window.

The Wild struggle against bigger, heavier teams. That they are up with the leaders despite that this season is a testament to the excellent system and full team buy in. It's absolutely night and day after Hynes, and with a bit more leverage after the cap hit it's tough to imagine the Wild not starting to fare better against teams like the Jets. They're blowing most everyone else out of the water.
