OceanBlue Last time I checked Canada was a member of the Common Wealth. The US might have the army with the most people/ money but Common Wealth armies have a record of winning wars. The US has yet to win a war solo. I think you almost beat some farmers once but almost vs farmers isn't impressive. You guys should stop throwing money and blood at conflicts and strongly consider just training your troops instead. Education isn't always a bad thing.

The first known and deployed parachute was done by a person who lived in what is now known as Croatia before Croatia was even a kingdom. So, yes. Not technically Croatian. Nope, Whitcomb has an idea about a quick fastener but it was neither a zipper, nor was it ever actually created. Nice try though. It was first made in Canada by Sundback, who took the basic ideas of a few others and found a solution with the interlocking teeth etc.

OceanBlue Mel W James Naismith invented basketball. He graduated from McGill University in Montreal (Canada) & became the first director of Athetics @ McGill until 1890 & 1891. In late 1892, he moved to Springfield MA to teach Phys Ed and invented basketball that same year. So, no he had not been living in the US for decades, it was less than a year. Without him basketball wouldn’t even exist. Lol take credit where it’s due. 🇨🇦

Kiki Dejean haha oui, j'aurais pu, mais a cause de mon clavier j'ai pas acces aux accents francais, et je n'aime pas ecrire en francais sans accents parce que ca a vraiment l'air faut (comme tu peux voir!) Of course, there are some places in BC that have French available and any Government of Canada office require bilingualism, but the average British Columbian doesn't speak much French and Chinese is probably (actually definitely) more common around Vancouver than French haha. Quant a Montreal, je veux tellment y aller, mais je n'ai jamais eu l'occasion malheureusement. Mais j'espere que ca peux changer a l'avenir! A toi aussi bonne journee! :)

Basketball was Canadian (sorry Jimmy) as for the zipper, Sundbuck took the ideas from the past that were close and made the first actual zippers as we know them, retained the rights and set up shop in St Catherines, Ont. Semantics can be held by several there since he was a Swede in the US that had the idea and came to Canada to make them. (call it a collaboration)

Also Canadians are more likely to move up income classes between generations than the US. Unemployment is low but it doesn't mean that the salaries are high and quality jobs are there. We don't need more military, we need brain: education, and intelligence. American Empire is over, the savage capitalisme with the 1% taking all the jobs and putting people into slavey is not a healthy empire. There were less people in years who watched the Super Bowl and the Academy awards this year. The American dream is not selling anymore.

Dr. Nesmith worked with disabled kids and invented the game in his driveway, at his house near Kemptville, Ontario, south of Ottawa. I've been there. He used bushel baskets from the apple orchard, with holes cut in the bottom. He took the game on the road a few years later, where J. Kimmel picks up the story.
