Rainsong T You’re combining perimenopause with technical menopause. Peri is the absolute worst period, and is lengthy, typically up to the DECADE preceding menopause. It is true fuckery. Some cultures experience worse than others. Then, individually there is difference, as each physiology/body/vessel is unique. Still, there are many similarities and things to expect or caution against. Conversation is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL, and it is widely understood that THAT is what is missing most from us- the patients, “the people”. The medical community is historically male-dominated, thus male-oriented, and have VERY little research and understanding in women’s health, reproductive or otherwise. Best is to COMMUNICATE with ALL TRUSTWORTHY [enough] resources that can help you. This actually does begin “at home” (talking with family, friends, guides, and peers).

Dear Jimmy, menopause is the hormonal 'end stage' of the female body's reproduction abilities. Like pregnancy, there can be side effects such as hot flashed, cravings and mood swings. Depending on the hormonal levels of the woman, it can last for a few months or a few years. Eventually, menstruation will stop and in some cases, the estrogens levels go so low, that the testosterone gains more 'power' and gives some women chin and upper lip hair. Menopause usually occurs for women over the age of 45, but can happen sooner due to hormonal imbalances or illness. You're welcome.

I hate it when white people say they wish they had an Afro. Growing up in the UK and being in all white environments it was my biggest peeve. Thank you Viola for explaining the difficulty of maintaining Afro hair.
@_JoyceArt6 жыл бұрын
I’m a white person, I’m fully aware of the maintenance that comes with having an Afro. One of my favorite KZbin channels is from a woman doing hair tutorials for textured hair. One of my exes from Angola has dreadlocks. He spent a lot of time moisturizing and making sure they looked great. But I will always have volume-envy, because at best, my hair is wavy. We humans tend to want what we don’t have. In elementary school I had a classmate who had lovely red curls, I wanted her curls, she wanted my sleek brown hair. I understand it must be annoying to hear it over and over "I wish I had your hair", but sometimes a compliment is just a compliment.

Angellaye some white people have a hard time reading black woman. Viola was being light-hearted, funny, charming, & a bit self-deprecating but all Jimmy saw was her strong voice and passionate speech and for some reason that is always interpreted as anger by some people. She handled it well but Jimmy was scared shitless of her.
@Angellaye4 жыл бұрын
@@CSmith-tn8nv The media has a hard time reading a black woman who's expressing herself, which I don't think sets example for the persons in society. Anyhow, as a host on a show, he should never give his guest the responsibility of how the interview is going is what i was trying to imply. He could've said, "I hope I don't upset you during the break". But he went with her being angry at him like if he wasn't asking silly questions (which I understand helps entertain).

Schools were integrated in the South in the early 1970s. In my junior high and high school, there was no fighting or blatant racism. We were just kids trying to pass our tests. It was the early 70s so our hair was either big (afros) or long and straight (hippie style). We had no problem respecting each other's differences.

When I was little I had my Aunt Janet who was my moms best friend & a Black woman. And being little, I didn’t know about wigs, extensions, weaves etc but every time I saw my Aunt her hair was different. So I assumed that black women specifically had “Magic Hair” that could change length, color & shape whenever they wanted. 😅 I still remember saying (in awe), “Your hairs so pretty Aunt Janet” & she’d smirk, give me a hug & say, “Thank you baby.”
