The land where mount Rushmore is located was given to the Sioux nations in the Fort Laramie treaty of 1868 in perpetuity . Then gold was found and our government withheld food rations to starve the Indians to move out and seized the land. One of the founding KKK members carved those four presidents into the sacred mountain by the land given to the original American people. The Sioux nations sued the federal government in 1980 and won Buy a supreme court ruling that we did violate the Fort Laramie treaty, but were only compensated money & the land was not returned. They did not want the money and it still sits in a trust fund. They want their land back, and defacing their sacred mountain was an incredible show of disrespect to this day, and for Trump to come here for a photo op for his rally is absolutely unbelievable; and shows his lack of understanding of basic history of our country. He’s having them forcibly removed from their own land and arresting them, and calling them evil people. Meanwhile Trump supporters are screaming at the Lakota true owners of the land that was seized and upheld by a Supreme Court ruling in 1980.
