Get your some old school fuel filters. The round clear can type. 1/4 , 5/15 , and 3/8s. Plumb the clear side to charcoal canister. You will be able to see what you need to see. The filter will save the purge valve from charcoal. 😊
@JimmyMakingitworkАй бұрын
That is a good idea! As long as the car has some rubber in the system. I suppose a fuel hose and clamps would work in it also.

I recently did the intake manifold, valley pan and valve cover gaskets on our 2000 GMC. What a mess! It was covered in 24 years of grime. A lot of scraping, a washing in diesel/mineral spirits and rinsing with brake cleaner. Of course when removing the passenger valve cover the plastic heater hose connector broke. Now we are having lean codes for both banks. I should have went with Felpro intake gaskets.

I like the metal gaskets! 😎

That’s what I’m thinking. My cousin Nick says it’s a XTool glitch.

Hey Jimmy. That mileage on the Toyota. Guess what XTool forgot to configure properly - metric versus US! That 182,xxx on the dash is equal to the number displayed on the tool - but the number on the tool is kilometers. Enjoy the cooler weather on the job. Gotta be nice not having it 172737.2% humidity and similar ambient temp!

Oh man, another X tool glitch! Thanks Nick, hope all is well!

Also dealing with a 01 s10 4.3 liter has had all ignition and fuel parts thrown at it. Dealer parts. Has a number 5 misfire only at higher rpm like getting on the highway. I put a vacuum gauge on it and when it misses the needle flutters very quickly between 12-15 inches of vacuum. I’m thinking maybe a weak valve spring
@JimmyMakingitworkАй бұрын
Yeah, sounds like a valve spring or cam lobe that’s begun wearing down.

I use to work at a shop at the parts department, and when the mechanics personnel cars went down , they would sent it to someone else to work on it. Just like you said , they work on cars all day , the last thing they want to work on is their own cars.

Very true! I didn’t mind as much when I was younger and my kids were little, focused on the money. But now, need to down time, it’s valuable!

The shop could buy the loud colored Porsche, weld it to a support at billboard height. Put your shop name on it so that all of the traffic eyeballs will be drawn to it every time they drive by (or should I say, "speed by"). Business will boom, and it will become an iconic part of Kissimmee. No charge for the advertising tip.

Everyone needs a car. Very few can or will even check their own oil.(sad). If they had brought the car to you for a pre purchase inspection, they would be working on a level playing field.
@JimmyMakingitworkАй бұрын
Thanks James, when money is tight it’s even more important to follow thru on Pre-inspections!

182 thousand, no way, jimmy, not when you can buy an 18 or 19 corolla for reasonable money and low miles. I bought 18 new cars in my life (age 50 ) and 4 used when I was poor . people today think they can buy good cars for new motorcycle 🏍 prices. if thats the case, people get a motorcycle license endorsement and a Japanese motorcycle for reliability. I can tell you basic motorcycle coverage in fl a year is less than 165 bucks on my own motorcycle ( just liability) but stop thinking 7 to 10 grand with 4 wheels is getting you a good car! in less you personally know the mantiance history!
@JimmyMakingitworkАй бұрын
Agree 100% Alex! Only problem here is aggressive drivers are EVERYWHERE! I get tailgated and flipped off for going only 10 over the speed limit. lol
@lloydweems6237Ай бұрын
I like to have at least one of my cars that I bought new. Never know how used ones were driven or maintained.
@JimmyMakingitworkАй бұрын
Yeah, I think for those who keep cars a long time, starting new is the best way to do it.
@giggiddy27 күн бұрын
Folks that buy those clapped out cars from the buy here pay here do so because theyve likely made a bunch of consistently poor decisions in life, and have no choice but to buy at those places because they have no available cash. Thats the common denominator. Thats also why you see those recently purchased, high mileage luxury vehicles with that tell- tale high gloss interior shine that screams buy here pay here. They are more interested in trying to impress their friends who have less than they do, instead of driving something practical. But at least they bought a toyota. With that brand they will have a fighting chance.
@JimmyMakingitwork27 күн бұрын
Yeah very true!

With no records of services, even then, most used cars are sketchy. Most people don't sell reliable cars.
@JimmyMakingitworkАй бұрын
Very true! Reliable cars get traded in at dealers by people who like driving newer cars. The ones being sold are usually used up. But there are some out there if someone patient…VERY patient.
