I worked at Matco in Jamestown, NY for a little while building these tool boxes. I was on the end of the welding line where the boxes were nearly done being fabricated. A few rivets, a few spot welds and then on a riser so we could orbital sand any scratches on the outside before it went to the paint line. First time someone told me how much they cost it blew my mind. 10k, 20k for a tool box and you still gotta fill it with tools. Pretty cool job but it was dirty and hot as balls in the summer.
@ToolBoxTourКүн бұрын
I’m curious since you worked there. Do they ever give tours of their factories?
@theax40Күн бұрын
@@ToolBoxTourthis was around ten years ago but I imagine they might. Every factory job I ever had, at some point some prospective client or customer was given a tour. Might be different though if you want to film inside the factory.

Every shop needs a guy like this. I love the way he explains the reason for owning the tool and what he mainly uses it for. He doesn't need to spend anymore but Koken do the best nutgrip sockets including pinless flexible nutgrips, I know, sorry guys, now you need to buy them.
@randysmith9636Ай бұрын
It's funny you mentioned the grip sockets. I am semi retired after 45 years of wrenching. Meaning I only work on jobs that I want to do now. In the late 70s, 80s and 90s your tool options were very limited, primarily truck brand no Olsa, Tekton, Capri and the like. Although I started out with Craftsman tools and box, saved up and bought that big Craftsman set, 1900 tools or something like that. Hauled that around to the few independent shops I worked at until going to school, getting ASE certified and landed in a dealership. I love tools, I love buying tools, I love collecting tools Although I probably do not need those sockets I will buy them. Why, because as you said, they work and are pretty cool.
@harveysmith100Ай бұрын
@@randysmith9636 It's OK, blame me. It's not your fault, I led you astray. I dare not mention that their extensions are the best out there. The knurling is on the fat part so you get a better grip.
@GreaseMonkeyDKАй бұрын
Thanks!! I actually have the Koken nut grip sockets and extensions in my box at home. I found Koken way after all my work stuff had been purchased but it’s been a far better economical option than Snappy.

Excellent video brother. I truly enjoyed watching and listening to him reviewing his box. I am so happy to hear him NOT like the wobble + extensions. The very first time using mine the socket pushed back and no longer wobbled. His box looks a lot like mine, except for the HF and Olsa tools, i do not own any of their offerings. Thanks again for another great video. Edit to add, i had that slide top Snap On cart but ... After setting it up i realized because of the depth of the top compartment you lose valuable space. For him as a electronics station it works but for me the two extra drawers worked better.

FYI you made a comment about UV lights that "are just blue".... There's 4 different "UV" spectrums/wavelengths (UV, UVA, UVB, UVC) that achieve different things (IE illuminate neon colors or dyes/fluid, disinfection, tanning, scorpions, etc..etc...) The wavelength we need for leak detection dyes is 360nm-370nm (usually marketed as 365nm) What's interesting is he has the streamlight which is 400nm and it may work but it's definitely not as easy... 400nm is ideal more to see scorpions....
