@@alexelrod242 its the kind of thing where, if you have the money and you are going to do it, it'd be dumb to not just go for a laser cut, flat-pack fab table. As long as you clamp it correctly when welding (spoon could do it in his sleep) it's perfectly level and you can build way more intricate things like custom diff housings on solid axles, custom subframes, you can clamp through the holes in the table and set up any fixture you can think of. Might be a couple k investment but you make your money back the first time you use it by saving having to pay someone else thousands.

I saw a pro car build recently that removed the engine mounts from the front subframe and built brackets on the rails instead. That way when needing to replace the rack or front subframe the engine was already separate. Also i have seen wheel to wheel contact shunt the front suspension and subframe over moving the engine slightly and crushed some wiring and shorted/melting and put them on trailer. Just thought i would spread the minimal knowledge i have 😂

19:39 the dot is for the same reason you put the bottom end at 30 degrees after tdc so you don’t have valve contact on a stock ge vvti balancer there is a yellow mark 30 degrees. It matches the dots on cam gears so you can time it without risk of valve contact If it’s a gte engine there all non interference until you drop really big lift cams

16:51 exactly what I'm going through right now. I have an old set of Weapon R 4 bolt cam gears on my turbo Civic. The bolts actually gave a little bit on the exhaust gear and allowed the car to be off by 2 or 3 degrees, taking it as a sign and pulling the motor in the beginning of April and doing a full refresh on the swap, instead of just replacing the gears.

I’m not gonna lie I actually love that you threw Steve in there to actually do the torquing and stuff on the engine, especially knowing it’s the most expensive one you have built, like seriously I’d love to work for someone like you that does that, I mean that’s how you learn, and not a lot of places have the patients to do that, well a lot of places can’t afford the time to teach like that. But forreal the more I watch Jimmy the more and more I respect the dude forreal. He builds badass cars, he supports the guys who support him, he teaches guys stuff every chance he gets and they may crack jokes but they ain’t busting Steve’s balls for not knowing shit about the cars, Jimmy just teaches him and lets him do it so he can learn like it’s not a big deal at all. Seriously that has to be my favorite part of the video just because I know what that does for someone on the other end, and I know how hard that is to find now days. Don’t ever stop doing you Jimmy. Forreal I agree with the comment up top, not sure how you haven’t hit multi million subs yet..

I will say I don’t know that much about 1000+hp engines but everything I’ve seen built lately is being built with oem head gaskets. To me it seems like in most engine building applications an oem head gasket is usually the best bet. Even in the higher hp builds, and once you get to a certain point you start O ringing the block which takes a lot of pressure off the head gasket.

studs can be easly over torqued, the washers only need the lube on the nut side, not the machined surface of the head. lube the stud threads, the nut threads, nut to washer surface and the washer to nut surface. the machined surface between the head and the washers needs to be clean and dry. just a suggestion
