Jimmy, huge fan for decades man! You’re awesome and a huge inspiration for my guitar playing. Metallica was awesome, but I showed all my metal friends Deliverance. You’re playing is outstanding. Much love!

Brother, I agree that James was instrumental for a guitar sound for the metal generation of the 1980s. But I would also add Jimmy P Brown for the Christian metal sound of the same generation. Deliverance first album was ground breaking and very impactful in my life. GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER!

Loved the turn around on Orion! 👍Frayed ends of sanity @ 7:12 has an inspiring stalling out feel that I was always drawn to. It's these moments that really makes james stand out as a true inspiration.

Hello Jimmy! Deliverance song "no love" is very reminiscent of Metallica's "Battery" along with Iron Maiden's guitar riffs. The opening of Psalm 23 is very similar to welcome home (sanitarium), and "victory" in places resembles "fight fire with fire." I hope you won't be offended by the comparisons, these are just my observations. God bless you!

Amazing video! I'm glad you enjoy the intricacies of so many riffs, especially Dyer's Eve! Another reason I still love Metallica...their brilliant musicianship in the 80's. Their music from back then still never gets old for me. Deliverance also has great guitar work, for example..the beginning of "If We Faint Not" being a tune that made me stand up and go "Wow!" Simple or not isn't important, it's the feeling it stirs in you that is the best. That's the magic. Thanks

I had EXACTLY the SAME experience with the timing-trick going on in the Orion song They also turn thigs around the the 'Battery'-gangvocals in the chorus. Same kind of detail. This is exactly why I fell in love with their music (and therefore with Deliverance after I got saved). But Metallica don't use these kind of small details that much anymore, I wouldn't call it a downfall of the band but they just changed...... great video Jimmy!!

hey hey hey, great video! definitely a super influential band to say the least. I didn't listen to them much until ...and justice for all. then i backtracked and learned (the ways of shred) from so many great riffs! The first time they really caught my attention was when a friend handed me his Walkman, at school lol, and said dude, check this out! it was, The Thing Which Should Not Be. So, the mix is what truly got me. MASSIVE guitar tones. STEREO spread... DOUBLE TRACKED guitars.... I was rigging up tape recorders to bounce tracks... and i was like, this won't do! i need more gear! and of course my dad was like, well then you need a better job! i was and will always be (very) thankful for specifically The Weapons Of Our Warfare and Learn. among others you guys wrote, those two albums kept me from longing for better Christian heavy music. Thanks for sharing! Cheers from Texas! 🤟😸🤟

Hey Jimmy just wanted to say I love your podcast & KZbin channel! You probably did not see the dm I sent you last year, but I saw Metallica for the first time on my 50th birthday almost a year ago…- ironically I wore my only DELIVERANCE t-shirt to that show😂🤘🏼 I thought you might like to know that! God bless!

Dude, why have you not picked up a side gig as an audio book narrator? You've got the vocal tone for it for sure. If you have any inclination toward acting you might think about it. Beautiful gold-top btw. And you're so right about that descending march in "FWTBT", the first time I heard that part, man, I mean the neck muscles just take over and you can't stop it lol! What's beautiful about that is that they never come back to it the whole song. It would be so tempting to milk that across the track, but they just let it stand alone and live in those 8 measures for all time. Brilliant.
@JimmyPBrownII2 жыл бұрын
Never thought about it. Would be cool to do.. thanks for the suggestion, I’ll look into that!

@@JimmyPBrownII Cool. I'm the studio manager at an audio book company and we're always taking auditions. Hit me up on messenger if you want any tips and tricks. I expect that you've got everything at your home studio there that you would need to work remotely. Again, there's a fair amount of voice acting involved, but you don't know until you try! 👍

Metallica is great, but I also have to say Deliverance is great too! “Ramming speed” is such a powerful song love the intro and also the drum beat at the end probably influenced by the movie “ben hur”! “Weapons of our warfare, “River disturbance”, “Learn”, “Stay of execution”, all great albums! Just to name a few! I actually think deliverance “intense records presents live”is the best out of all the intense series, and in my opinion the live version of “Stay” is better than the studio version!

I've long felt that it's often not the intricacy of riff as it's the sound. Millions of people connect and feel and are influenced by the sound then as we play we get lost in the weeds of making everything complicated technical but how often does that end in multi platinum reception?
