Jimmy that was a phenomenal reaction.. I am new to the channel.. and just absolutely blown away by how much passion you put into this reaction.. I love Asaf.. but this was actually one I hadn't heard.. I gotta tell you.. I watched this 3 days ago and have attempted to write a comment multiple times.. all too long.. this will be long too.. but I assure you its condensed.. I had to remind myself that this is a reaction channel, not a therapy session.. but the truth was that day.. it was both for me and I am eternally grateful, not just to the brilliant song Asaf performed, but to you Jimmy and Rinat who suggested your channel.. I mean.. I just don't have the vocabulary, to articulate how much it meant to my particular situation.. First time I listened and it really hit me.. Jimmy emphasized that music is healing.. and a light bulb went off in my mind.. now this may be something that 90 percent of the world understands and I was the only one lost.. I am not sure.. can't speak for everyone.. but in the interview when Asaf spoke about realizing his emotions were not just for the loss of his horse.. but for all the losses in his life. I then remembered his story about the moment that his song, Reckoning song was based on.. and in that brief story.. he said, the trick is not to sacrum to depression over loss.. but rather to be embrace loss.. to face it and acknowledge it.. I recently really crawled my way out of a deep depression.. Hi Ren was a song that really helped me change my perspective.. and I have been doing well.. but have always felt that I'm close getting back to being myself, but something was missing. Jimmy.. This reaction I feel gave me that missing piece.. that day, after the first listen, I went for a drive in the mountain, and listened again.. It finally clicked that I have not faced those losses in my life that have hung over me for so.. so long.. I hadn't even fully accepted them in my mind.. as I drove through the mountains here in Utah, the snow was coming down, but not as much as the tears from my face.. listening to the song, the emotion put into each lyric, into each note.. it was like it invaded my soul, and just allowed me to release all those years of sorrow, of frustration, of pain.. it poured out of me.. I can't explain it.. at one point on some of the notes, I think I was screaming.. just releasing it all into the air.. I was able to face them.. to feel I understood them finally and to let go of them.. I am just some knucklehead with too much time on his hands.. but.. I know one thing.. that day I felt that the weight of the world had been lifted from my shoulders.. and I am eternally grateful to all involved.. You nailed it Jimmy.. MUSIC IS HEALING.. and I thank you for your words, for the emotional connection you made on this reaction.. and although I am brand new.. I just view you as a real solid HUMAN BEING.. with a great heart and I definitely am a subscriber and look forward to more reactions, especially to Asaf.. I hope that this doesn't come across as awkward.. for myself, I felt in my heart I had to share the experience; I assure you that in my previous attempts I put details about life, that I finally agreed with myself, that those were not necessary to convey my heart felt thanks to you and not just Asaf, but the whole Asaf community. So many incredible people that I can't tell you enough how grateful I am about finding Asaf, and all of you.. Take care Jimmy, and thank you so much for this reaction. It may be something people will see and think.. how did you not know to face those losses.. but I hadn't.. and now.. I HAVE and I feel much better. SO.. THANK YOU ALL.. Take care and God Bless you all.

@jimmysmusicreactions7030 No Jimmy.. Thank You.. I knew it was a bit much.. but I felt in my heart I needed to let you know and just show my appreciation. Several days later.. and I still feel that load that was still dragging behind me has been released. Allowing me to go forward with a better understanding of how to deal with life's struggles.. I am so thankful to Rinat.N for directing me to your channel. She tells me I got some catching up to do here.. so tomorrow I plan to dive into a few of the ones I've missed.. I'm sure they will be great.. thanks for sharing part of yourself for us to enjoy. Take care and God Bless you and your family. ❤️

Since you ask for deeper meanings and want to dive into the lyrics, I'll give you a summary of what Asaf said on his Insta about this song and its meaning. It's extremely fascinating. :: Only the title has to do with his actual horse. After the accident he felt all the losses in his life overwhelm him. People lost, pets, versions of yourself that you lost, dreams, places...like he said in the short video. Asaf often speaks about entropy (the degradation of matter and energy in the universe) to create a non-religious acceptance, instead of fear, for the fact that we are all born to die, born to wither away. We are not new, we are not special, everything will pass. He believes love is the weapon we have to protect ourselves and to find meaning in existence - we know that we were born to fail (like he sings in these lyrics), but that makes our effort in love and finding meaning in life even more beautiful. The thing that seem to live on is the human need for meaning, for religion, for gods. He then asked himself "what is the difference between gods and humans?" Gods are immortal. Then he asked "But how do gods measure time, how do they know for how long they lived?" He thought: What if the gods use humans as their "clocks" (the lyrics: a sundial for the gods...perpendicularly only), what if they created humans only to see the passage of time through our decay, maybe we are here just to let cosmos know the passage of time. Two dead bodies laying perpendicularly to each other, for the gods. The way his imaginative stories stimulates my own imagination is amazing!

You know, someone in the comment section awhile back.. Probably Rinat.. made an observation that his songs are personal.. but at the same time seem universal.. I think that is so accurate, it reminds me of Dylan, whom I adore.. and the brilliance of Dylan and Asaf here is the ability to keep some of the lyrics vague enough that they are open to interpretation.. I mean if I had 10 people listen to a Dylan song, there is a good chance that they will all be slightly different.. possibly even Quite different, but its the same song for everyone.. I think Asaf does the same with the lyrics, he leaves them open to interpretation, even though the source that inspired him to write the song is a close personal experience.. He even talks about it in his live performance of Reckoning Song at the Acropolis. He points out that he understands that others look at the song from their own prisms. The brilliance to his lyrics, is that he deliberately leaves room for interpretation.. allowing the listener to take from it.. whatever it was that they needed from it.. If that makes sense. Asaf gets better with every performance. Thank you Rinat for your kindness and for sharing your knowledge of this artist. I am truly humbled by the whole experience.. and grateful for you and the whole community.. grateful for reactors like Jimmy.. who take time to really soak in the performances and then have the ability to articulate what the experience was like for them... Loving all these reactions.. Thanks again. .

Hi there my good friend Jimmy, so good to see you again.😊 Your comments prior to the Lost Horse video captured the essence of what makes Asaf Avidan such a remarkable artist. Lost Horse is pure, unfiltered artistry and Asaf’s voice is unlike any other with its haunting, raw, and dynamic feel. It pierces straight to the core, balancing ethereal highs and gritty lows. With that kind of emotional duality in his vocals, its no wonder his music is unforgettable. That fluidity in his vocals, mixing organic and synthesized instruments and 3 different melodies on the piano at the into of the song is precisely where his strength lies. It gives him the ability to connect on both vulnerable and powerful levels, making each note feel deeply personal and honest. Asaf becomes completely absorbed in his music, and it shows in every subtle movement. As he becomes absorbed in it so do we, its contagious and sticks with you well after the conclusion of the song. Beyond that, his ability to maintain order in the looping of both harmonics and vocals packs his music full of emotion. The story telling he does with his lyrics take you on that emotional journey as the delivery of it draws you deeper and deeper into the emotional experience. Personally, it is beyond anything I have ever experienced. Some are not ready for that kind of exploration within themselves though and its completely understandable. Joy, happiness and love often come with bitterness, sadness and anger and not all are ready to go there. Asaf Avidan is a huge force in music as he is an all around genius when it comes to his craft, he takes it much further than just listening to music. He is music, every bit of him an extension reaching deep into his soul and ours. As always Jimmy thank you for such an amazing intro into this incredibly talented artist. See you next time!❤

It turns out that some of the details I previously provided about this performance are not accurate...🤷♀️ Here are the correct details for this specific performance: In March 2024, Asaf was specially invited to perform in the Aquarium project as part of a celebration for a cultural initiative supporting Israeli arts and music. As an internationally acclaimed artist, his participation aimed to encourage greater support for creativity and artistic talent. The performance took place without a live audience, attended only by a small group of invitees, and was streamed live on social media and KZbin.

Beautiful piece. I loved it even better in his live video "au Perchoir Paris" - maybe you'd like to check it out. Thanks for this heart widening reaction. BTW, due to the intro you played, and of his mentioning his lost horse's name "Areadne" I'm reminded of his "In a Box II - The Labyrinth Song" (are you familiar with this one?)- I don't know which came first, the song, or the horse, but it brings some more thoughts to it's theme. Musically, it somewhat rings a bell to Simon's "Susan", at least to my ears. Still a very lovely piece on its own.
