love to see you are reviewing and using on1 now. It was great you did reviews on Skylum and others but I have found on1 to be the most reliable solution for a DAM (whether you use catalogs or browser mode) and powerful easy-to-use effects and tools. I love the use of the keystone because I had never thought of that and always used Photoshop to straighten badly warped images.

Thanks Jim and I was quite envious looking at not only a function rich app but ergonomically and atheistically very nice. I have a pile invested in LR but when I look at apps such as this, and DxO which I use occasionally, LR looks so tawdry! Stay well and cool down there in TX.

Good summary of the power of ON1. You did show correcting some but what happens when you have more to correct than you showed and you end up with blank parts between the photo and the canvas? Can you do a fill-in like with Photoshop's "content-aware fill"?
@JimNix
@JimNix 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Harry and usually I just crop the image to remove that stuff, but you can actually expand the canvas if you want/need to. I will have to demo that in a future video. Thanks.

Excellent Jim - I have just bought this program so I need to learn everything!!! I have noticed that the wording on the tabs etc are very small and that is maybe why I couldn't see where you clicked to get the red and green paint from when you created the mask (or was it behind your inset video?)I will watch again and then try to follow in my own version. So used to Luminar that this is now a completed start....but it does look to be worth it as it seems a powerful program.....thanks again for the video

Thanks for this Jim, you've produced a fantastic end result and therein lies the conundrum - if someone was looking for their 1st and only editor, what the hell would they decide upon if considering On1 or Neo ??? Goodness only knows and conversely, I've got both, but if I had to drop one, because of circumstances, which one would I drop ??? Haven't got a clue which one I'd keep mate.
@JimNix
@JimNix 2 жыл бұрын
hah thanks mate and both are great and I think it would depend on what you want or need to do to a photo - I feel they are really complementary and no need to choose just one! 😀
@markbarnes9694

You can use NEO as a plug in from ON1. ON1 has a superior asset manager, NEO's borders on useless. IMO use ON1 as your host editor and Neo as a plug in. The ability to use both is the best! Have fun!

Hey Jim, this is another fine tutorial. Thank you. One thing though, I am not understanding why you did that global adjustment in the Local adj. tab, after you did it in the Develope tab. Why not further adjust the global settings in the Develope tab? I hope you get what I mean. Thanks.
@JimNix
@JimNix 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there and thank you for watching. Yes, I sometimes do a "final touch up" sort of edit using the local adjustment but without brushing it in, so it is global. I prefer not to return to Develop for this simply bc I like my Develop settings and do not want to change them. So I just use a local adjustment instead and apply it globally. That lets me experiment and if I do not like it, I just delete it without messing up my original Develop settings. thanks!

I really enjoy your videos of On1 and Luminar Neo. I purchased Neo and love it, but it has its moments when it doesn't work real well. If you had to pick between the two, which would you chose and why. Thanks.
@JimNix
@JimNix 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom and thanks, and I love both but Neo is my primary tool that I use the most. But they are very complementary and I like to use them together to take advantage of the power of both apps.
@TLeightonWomack
@TLeightonWomack 2 жыл бұрын
@@JimNix Why is that when On1 seems to offer so much more control?
@JimNix
@JimNix 2 жыл бұрын
@@TLeightonWomack good question and they just approach things differently. Neo uses a lot of AI to get things done, and On1 is sorta moving in that direction but has a long history of giving the user a lot of control. So if you like that level of control - or need it - then On1 is a great option. If you prefer the AI-driven approach then perhaps Neo is a better fit. I feel like with Neo I can more quickly get control over light and color in an image, which is something I do on every pic so I tend to use it more.
@paulgibbings9553
@paulgibbings9553 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I really like On1 and it is now my main editor. One quick question, when you use the local adjustments as global, is there a reason why you do this in local rather than in the develop tab?
@JimNix
@JimNix 2 жыл бұрын
thanks Paul and I like to do that just because I like where I was in Develop and don't want to change it, so using local adjustments lets me experiment more without messing up my original result - I can easily delete the local one if I don't like it - plus I just them like that a lot for final touch up edits too
@paulgibbings9553

Neo is my primary editor, and On1 is a strong #2 for me. You could create a cinematic look in either. It just depends on how you define cinematic but each has filters that would help really just about any look you want.
