I've not been playing 2 months yet but I have played guitar since 1970 and play mostly anything with strings or keyboards. Maybe it's learning something new at my age but Banjo has been a challenge. I learned Boil Them Cabbage Down from another channel but it left me pretty confused. Then I found your channel and I feel like I've made leaps and bounds on my learning, thanks to you! I didn't see you had a lesson on this song and last night I started picking it out on my own. I can't do a roll if you call it out by name yet, I'm still very new. But this is the first song I've just tried to work out on my own on Banjo. Having played other instruments for so many years, that is one of the big "breakthrough" moments for me, when I can hear something and say Hey, I think I can play that! I want to work on it on my own for a few more days, then I'll watch this video and look at the tab I downloaded from the patreon page and see how far off I am! :) You are an awesome teacher Jim! Thank you so much!

@@JimPankey Yep, been working on it. I have Cripple Creek down at 95 BPM, still struggling to get it consistent at 100. Just learned Banjo in the Hollow but no speed at all on it yet. Been skipping around on some other videos on your channel, learning bit's and pieces here and there. Thanks again for all your work!

Help, Jim (or anybody). I accidentally destroyed my banjo just a little while ago. I propped my banjo against a wall where it slid, hitting the floor and breaking off the entire peghead (or head stock) right off the top of the neck (at the nut). The tuning bridge also came off. I’m both infuriated with myself and devastated. I could cry. I just need some advice: Is there any point in trying to get it repaired or should I just buy a new one? It was more of a rare banjo; an Emperador which is a Japanese copy of a Gibson RB-250.
@JimPankey3 жыл бұрын
That can certainly be repaired. A good local music store should be able to direct you to a good luthier that can fix you up!
