Hi Jim, We're Never to Old - I Started playing the Banjo 6 moths ago and I'll be 80 years old next month. Seem the whole world loves your tuitional videos, not surprising. Amazed what I've learnt in 6 months including BlackBerry Blossom. Best Wishes from Banbury, England

My goodness this is such a pretty tune. I think this is next on deck for me on my growing list of Pankey-taught tunes to learn. You did such an amazing job (no pun intended here) breaking down Foggy Mountain Breakdown and that - on top of the amazing 10-lesson beginner series and a few of the other tunes I now 'know' enough to practice, you've given me the confidence about learning more. Thank you!

Jim! You are an absolute godsend for those of us trying to learn bluegrass banjo. I try to learn from a few others on video and none of them are the same. You have a knack for making things simple and fun! I finally got a resonator banjo to feel the part and am making my way through your "learn these next" lists. I'm still pretty slow, but I'm having so much fun! Also, as a side note, the more I learn Scruggs Style, it seems to be helping my clawhammer....not even sure if that's a thing?

You got me started in the banjo when you first put out these series of lessons. I took a little break to work on guitar. I just upgraded to a deering maple blossom banjo and am back learning everything I can. You make these just challenging enough to stay fun but easy enough that I don't get frustrated and move on. I love the guitar but I love the banjo more. Thank you so much.

Would anyone here have a hint for how to deal with 5th string? Its so damn loud, when i listen records of me playing, your attention automatically goes to 5th string playing. Ping ping, ping, ping, ping ping. Its distracting. Any ways to make it more silent?
@JimPankey2 жыл бұрын
Don't play it quite so hard??
@toniheikkila56072 жыл бұрын
@@JimPankey Thanks, but tried that, and giving more power to index and middle, but that seems to take away dexterity. Maybe loud is wrong word, bright might be better. English is my second language. And did research, seeing that im not the only one. Myriad of suggestions from getting a better thumb pick, to getting thicker 5th string, or using older one, or putting electrical tape under it in the bridge, maybe getting overtones, maybe bad bridge... And of course my banjo is a cheap one, so tone might not be the best. Guess at least I can keep myself busy for a while trying to figure things out :D
