My great grandfather served in the 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders on the North West Frontier of India in the 1890's. He took part in two Hazara campaigns alongside the 5th Gurkhas and other units. He was president of the Seaforth's Association Birmingham Branch in the 1930's. Everytime I hear this march it makes me think of him and that fabulous regiment.

Back when Britain was strong, confident in itself and took no shit from enemies, foreign or domestic. We are a shadow now of our former selves.

My dad fought with the 1st Bn Seaforth during the repatriation of Batavia in 1946 as part of the 23rd div Indian SEAC forces.. He had nothing but pride for the Highlanders.

My Great great grandad fought with the Seaforth Highlanders in the 2nd battle of Ypres, he was a sergeant and sniper within the battalion!! He was fortunate enough to survive the war and no doubt marched to this wonderful tune when he returned home to Scotland to remember his mates who sadly didn't make it back. Hundreds of years of tradition lost with these fantastic Highland and lowland scottish regiments is so sad!! None the less there reputation in the British army will live on as being fantastic professional soldiers and well respected throughout the army as some of the finest if not the best regiments that have served Great Britain
