I'm big on the SRO, favorite optic by far. Have one on all my two mains. My only gripe with it is that it is a little over priced (Trijicon should make it indestructible for the price it is). If I was using one for duty only, I'd definitely go with the 509T or the 507c. For concealed carry, SRO all day.

The more I learn and the better I become the more I realize that circle dot, circle or chevrons are nothing but a crutch or handicap that creates very bad habits that only become harder to overcome. I started out with circle dot, then went to the acss chevron and now I'm strictly dot only. Holosun is still the best rds for the money because it has a great, crisp 2moa dot. I still use their circle only for my shotgun.

what did he say at the end about treating the glass? thank you
@TerminalM193
@TerminalM193 Жыл бұрын
Products called cat crap. Great for glass treatment. DO NOT get the spray, get the "balm" or gel version. Make sure it's applied correctly. You'll see abunch of bad reviews and that's either due to the spray and/or all these dummies giving bad reviews don't know wth they're even doing. You want to first clean the glass with water and a soft microfiber. Once all is dry take the balm and apply to the glass and rub it in until the glass starts feeling tacky. I like to add a bit extra just for peace of mind. I literally apply the stuff with my fingers. Once applied take a CLEAN, soft microfiber and polish until crystal clear. I put it on all of my optics, red dots, prisms, sunglasses, shooting glasses and even my full face gas masks. Once the stuff is applied, if your rds or glass ever needs cleaned then simply just use water & soft microfiber or qtips. You can get a good 4 to 5 simple water cleanings before needing to apply the stuff again. I've had a little tiny container of their balm for 4 years now and I'm maybe halfway through the stuff. Also, this shouldn't have to be said but FYI : If you EVER need to clean any of your optics whether it's got cat crap on it or not, before cleaning get a thing of canned air or use an air compressor on very low setting and blow away any debris whatsoever away before cleaning... I remember reading a few bad reviews on Amazon where the numbnuts blamed the cat crap for scratching their glass when I know for a fact there's no way in hell the product did any kind of scratching.... I'm sure they probably used their t-shirt or a shop rag to wipe their glass while having debris on it and scratched it up that way.

Great video thanks so much for uploading. I'd love to hear Scott's thoughts on carrying a WML for concealed carry seeing as he quoted the need for a spare magazine being statically insignificant. I've never heard of a single instance of a civilian using a WML during a defensive situation. Not saying it's not useful or couldn't happen just wonder if it justifies the carrying of one.
@jonnyt16
@jonnyt16 2 жыл бұрын
That is an interesting topic too. For me personally, I have never carried a spare magazine. More recently, I decided against a WML as well--but mostly because I couldn't find a holster for my gun/light combo. I really don't worry about it though because the reality is that a civilian will most likely NEVER have to use their concealed carry weapon for self-defense, and, on the very slight chance he or she does, a reload or using a WML will be even more statistically rare. That is just me though and definitely not saying carrying a spare mag or WML is wrong.

Different method of shooting for sure. I haven't got a red dot on my personal piece, but I've shot through them a few times now. I think there's tradeoffs for both, but the biggest benefit I saw immediately was the sight picture. Not having my irons totally obstruct the target seems to be a great improvement to traditional irons.

Speed is important but have you compared your accuracy from a string of 3 to 6 shots on paper with irons vs a red dot on the same type of pistol that you may borrow/borrow from a friend?

@ryanpeck3377 2 жыл бұрын
Im willing to bet you were slow and not confident when you first started shooting (first learning how to line up irons etc) Same with red dot, it takes time and reps to get proficient but in the end youll be even faster and more accurate with a dot.... and then you get the real big advantage of being able to remain threat focused instead of front sight focused in a defensive encounter
@ryanpeck3377
@ryanpeck3377 2 жыл бұрын
@@indolent1529 sight picture and being able to stay threat focused vs front sight focused. Your brain will naturally want to stay focused on the threat. Its why many people say they didnt see their sights in a gunfight. They stayed threat focused and their front sight was all blurry to them.

Did you expect to get the hang of it in one range visit? The dot is mercyless when the presentation is inconsistent and when you bounce when you're moving. How nervous it feels depends on the dot size. Try it with a bigger circle to train first and a 4-6 moa dot and some like a chevron option.

From a shooting stand point extremely useful because you’re learning the balance of speed and accuracy. Competition gives you the best data on that in regards to your own shooting.
