The bar for video games is now whether they even tried or not
@jonassanoj30453 жыл бұрын
@@ADHDlanguages imo, the bar for video games is through the roof and has been for a very long time. a game like the one in the video takes considerable skill and effort to create, yet most people would consider it trash. not because it is objectively bad, but because they're comparing it to the greatest games on the market. if you're an averagely skilled chef, people will admire your cooking skills; nobody's gonna expect you to be gordon ramsay. if you're an averagely skilled indie game developer, people will probably laugh at you.

@@ADHDlanguages I'm not just talking about graphics. To be fair, time has led to a lot of 'better' games on the market not being all that enjoyable, being made by companies with horrible business practices, or both. I'm sure JSS' own mindset has some effect, but I wonder if part of it is just that us gamers (a separate entity from Gamers™, I feel compelled to note) find ourselves more enthused for unpolished passion projects than gilded turds these days? Because it seems like the comment section is kind of leaning JSS' way, too, so it can't be *just* them that looks more favorably on this project than they might have in the past. It seems like it's us, too. I wouldn't play this game myself, but I'd give it an "A For Effort" sticker where years ago I would have called this shovelware. Although now that I say it...maybe it's because actual shovelware has gotten so much worse over the years that this game distinguishes itself as something more than that easily.
