Easy - make something you've always wanted to make but have absolutely no education, training or experience in (I recommend neurosurgery) then spend ages on your new project without showing it to anyone or letting them test it. After spending most of your time focusing on tiny details that make your project look "epic" (lens flares go with anything), you release your project and charge the same as more experienced, professional creators because you think you're just as good - if not better - than them. Then you go off and shove a bucket on your head so you don't hear any criticism. If you hear anything negative then dismiss them as trolls because you spent longer then anyone with your project, therefore your opinion is worth much more compared to someone who's only experienced your magnum opus for two hours.

@@gremlin66n I think it must remain a shitpost, if it ever stops being a shitpost it stops being a gilsonlike. Run, die, repeat must be the core gameplay loop, with maybe a little bit of story context but very little else. My plan is to have all of the core gilsonlike features, but gate them off based on how many times you've died 😉 I've also got plans to streamline the core gameplay loop by making the attack a little flashier to draw attention to it, remove the collider from the enemies entirely, and have a dynamic camera system that frames the enemy as it's killing you, while removing control from the player in a slightly frustrating way. Ragdolls on death may also increase enjoyment without losing the core gilsonlike vibe
@luccaladinig27832 жыл бұрын

It's not really working imho, no matter how many (timed) EGS exclusives they pour money into. I suspect Tencent hates Steam because Steam basically controls the western PC gaming market and doesn't buy into the Tencent/CCP BS the way everyone else seems to. Watching this video gave me an idea for how to make a Gilson-like that was actually fun. I have no skill in making games so if anyone wants to take this idea and run with it, go for it! You have my blessing So basically the story would be that you, a random person, got immortality powers somehow. Doesn't matter how. But in the process you find out that some god / otherworldly being is planning on destroying the world because they're bored with it. You are not strong or skilled in anyway, but you figure with your immortality you can try to save the world by making it more entertaining for the god. So the gameplay would basically be you spawn, get to an enemy, then try and survive the fight by making it last longer. The more you dodge and block attacks the better. Maybe you could throw in ways to get the enemies to use their abilities in interesting ways. Like getting them to friendly fire each other or something. Or get an enemy to knock down a house. Just whatever. The point is YOU can't actually do anything and can't hurt the enemy in any way, so the goal is to make the fight more entertaining by manipulating the enemy until you inevitably lose. Then you die and respawn because that's the power you have. You could just have different fights around the map and the goal would be to get high scores on each one or something. I think there's a way to make a fun game out of that formula. Which granted is antithetical to a Gilson-like so maybe it wouldn't actually be one. But whatever.

I'm starting to believe that Gilson is a Sony executive failson. It's the only explanation I can come up with for why all of his games end up on the Playstation store. If one game were up there and it ended at that I'd call it a fluke, but they arrive every year with such consistency and nobody at Sony will ever explain it lol.

7:38 Look at the sky. Why are there two moons? I thought this was feudal Japan. Were the assets Gilson stole meant for a sci-fi planetary exploration game? Does he think Japan was originally from another dimension that merged with ours or something?

[Azur Lane has entered the chat.] "In that other dimension, Japan had the space IJN Yamato, and she fought alongside the bravest DD and DDE of all time, the space USS Johnston and the space USS Samuel B Roberts...so, yeah!"

Gilson appears to have been a big fan of Trek to Yomi. Granted, the stark black and white aesthetic in windy medieval Japan originates from Kurosawa films, but usually he doesn't truly try to go this hard into a single art direction.

Gilston is a dadaist, whose annual upload of his empty and pointless software is a postmodern commentary on much of what passes for Triple-A gaming today. In this latest release he has enshrined Grind upfront and centre-stage. Your only task is to go through the motions, as he says to himself "You're welcome".

So, if gameplay mechanics are being lost with each game, will the future be like this: 2022: Lose the ability to guard and dodge. 2023: Lose the ability to attack. 2024: Lose the ability to run. 2025: Lose the ability to walk. 2026: Lose the ability to stand. 2027: Start off dead.

Gilson’s inability to use an apostrophe correctly really stands out. The incompetence starts from the opening text!
@jimballard11862 жыл бұрын
Eh, I'm pretty sure he's ESL and all of this English text is provided by Google Translate, so I won't make fun of him for that. I will make fun of him for being a scam artist who insists on keeping all his profits so he refuses to hire a translator, though.

Steph being a noob again. This is obviously Game of the Year! - No loot crates or micro transactions. - No complicated leveling up or upgrade mechanics. - No political undertones. 10 out of fucking 10 Gilson!
@shrimpisdelicious2 жыл бұрын
Actually, this game is masterful satire of the current state of politics in the world. You simply run towards the world's problems with your sword of idealism drawn, hoping to strike down the problems of the world, only to be defeated yourself by the enemy, who represents [LATE STAGE CAPITALISM/THE WOKE AGENDA/THE LIZARD PEOPLE]. You then are forced to walk through purgatory, trying to find out where you went wrong, only to reappear in the world to try again before you're struck down again. Ahigaru: The Last Shogun is nothing less than one of the best pieces of commentary on man's futility to change the world around him that has even been made.

My Theory: Gilson B. Pontus is the pseudonym under which a beginners' game dev class on 3rd person action adventures releases every year's final project in an attempt to recouperate some money. That's why look, feel, setting and overall competence remain the same but there's always other beginners mistakes made.
