You were doing fine. Thank you for this warm and beautiful reaction. I teared up many times too. This live performance was an emotional performance and it will always be a performance etched in our minds and hearts for it not only showed Jin's attributes as a singer but it also allowed us to bear witness the brotherly love, bond, admiration and respect Jin and Chris Martin have for each other. Yes you are right about Jin needing emotional support sometimes. In BTS, he is the oldest brother and is always there for the 6 younger ones even though all seven of them are there for each other all the time. But with Chris Martin, I think it gives him a chance to be in the position of a younger brother looking up to an elder brother for emotional support apart from their mutual respect and admiration for each other of course.
@lisali21132 жыл бұрын
No you are not alone in this and you are not being egoistical or arrogant about voicing your views. Did you notice how Chris looked at Jin proudly and was smiling broadly most of the time when he saw Jin bobbing away to the tune happily? He even encouraged and pointed out to Jin to move to the centre stage a couple of times. In his text messages to Jin, he said, "We will take care of you" and indeed he did.

Chris and Jin feel very much like an older brother-young brother relationship. And just to (gently) clarify: Jin stated in the interview with Lee Young Ji that he has few ~celebrity~ friends, or a very small celebrity social circle he hangs out with. Nonetheless, Jin having many loving friends is what we want for him always. Thanks so much for this heartfelt reaction!

I'm a 50 year old man and never has a concert/music video hit the way this performance hit me. I'm a wreck every time I see this. I can't imagine knowing nothing else except the love for the fans for your entire adult life and then going back to the civilian world to fulfill his duties. He must be feeling a realization for his love for his fans and be scared and lonely at the same time. I feel like Chris is being supportive like he's a member of BTS. Total hyung vibes. It's a wonderful thing..

Jin is the youngest of three children in his family, and he moved into being the eldest in a family of seven boys with no strong parent figure. RM is the leader, but Jin is the eldest hyung, and he takes his responsibilities to heart. I have really enjoyed watching him this year building relationships and working with people older than him (Coldplay, Chef Baek, etc.) and relaxing into those relationships. I have also really enjoyed watching him evolve from the man who was chosen to be "the visual" into one of the most powerful voices I have heard in the current pop scene. Watching him in this performance getting fed encouragement and support by his inspirations who became his hyungs never fails to lift my spirits. And kudos to you for not being the strongest soldier. Because allowing us to see the effect this performance and relationship have on you is also helpful and uplifting in its own way.

I think Chris and Coldplay really help drive the message home that groups CAN stay together for years and years while fans continue supporting them. I don't care if the boys might not go full out with intense dancing but if they continue to make amazing music with thought provoking messages I know I'll be with them for however long they want to continue. I'm going to miss Jin like crazy and it hurts knowing we'll do this six more times but remember we're going to get them all back saying, "Hi, we're BTS!" because they've asked us to trust in them and I do.

It annoys me so much when people say for a fact one day they will disband or they are already getting "too old" to be a kpop group/boyband. Great music is timeless. Plenty of bands/groups stay together. And of course I want them to have lives separate from the group but I don't think they have to pick one over the other. Look at a group like the Backstreet Boys they will be celebrating their 30th anniversary as a group next year and all the members are married and have kids while touring and making music together, and they still get along. Not to mention all the rock bands that have literally been together for decades. Whatever happens in the future I just want them all to be happy.

@@crystalsnow1138 I think when people say those things they're speaking from the perspective of what has historically been the norm in Korean/kpop culture. I don't think they're speaking from a international star perspective. That tendency to push out groups once they get "too old" is a big part of why kpop is separated into generations and why they start as kids. They value youth in visuals, energy, sound, and topics. These people need to realise that BTS has transcended kpop and typical Korean expectations of what a boy group should do and how their musical lifespan should look. Fans tend to say that BTS isn't kpop anymore or that they're not a boy band. I think they're both, they've just excelled at it in a way that raised the bar in a way that's never been seen before. They will last as long as they want to last because ARMY will support them always. If they want to retire, they deserve that rest and a chance at normalcy. If they want to perform until they're 95 years old, we'll be there with our ARMY bombs. If they want to work while having families and normal lives, ARMY will also support them and show other companies that it's okay to allow their idols to have normal lives. I suspect that's why many others disband. A human can only live in the kpop bubble for so long. It's lonely and restrictive and it steals normal life milestones. We need to show them that fans will support through it all and not be toxic about it.

So I really do agree with you, that Chris is like a hyung to Jin, and that he's probably needing it right now. This whole enlisting thing is not easy for the boys, not only because they have to serve, but because of how they were until now in the middle of this political discussions of whether they should be granted with alternative service or not. So as all of them are going through this, and as the member's hyung, Jin probably was always trying to keep it cool, and be there for them. So I think Chris really must've been this emotional support that he was probably in need. Jin himself said in his live after the releasing of the single that he saw how many news and many people were saying that he should just go and enlist, whilst he was indeed planning to enlist. He said he was going in June, but after talking with the member's decided to go after the Busan concert to give this farewell to ARMY, and only announced the enlistment afterwards because he didn't want the concert to be sad.

So happy that you found a post with Chris Martin’s amazing speech before the actual performance. When I saw the Coldplay concert in full, then this part came on, which was towards the end of the whole concert, it hit me much harder then the MV. I kept getting so emotional and crying throughout the whole performance. It all just finally hit me. Plus, being that it’s a collab with Coldplay, it allowed Jin to perform at a live full stadium concert for one last time just so he was able to perform his very own solo song. Plus added to it was the amazingly beautiful relationship that Chris seems to have with Jin. You can really tell and feel just how genuine it is. Which also made everything that more special. It’s like, yep, Jin got another one, another higher up celeb to befriend and or fall in love with him. Jin has such a lighthearted, natural, beautiful way about him. Though inside there of course is so much more that I’m sure needs as much love, support and understanding as well.

You are absolutely right, many times we forget that Jin is very shy and introverted and many times he has said that he does not have many friends and the friends he does have are much older than him and I think it is because of the emotional containment that he seeks and needs, many times one unconsciously seeks what he needs to have stability, since I saw some videos of him going to premieres of movies and seeing him interact with his older friends was like seeing a small child seeking shelter, I don't know why I got that impression I don't know but when I saw the performance in Argentina I thought the same as you, well since the mv came out I'm a mess and after this it's worse I can't watch this without crying, thanks for your sincerity and for everything, Stay healthy and happy 💜

Thank you for your positive reaction. Jin is the baby in his family then joined BTS and found himself the hyung to six younger guys. He said once that he felt he always had to be positive for the other guys but he had his dark moments too. He presented as the group comedian and confident hyung, practically "Mom" of the house especially to the youngest. So usually the other guys lean on him for support. Chris M said in a behind-the-scenes doco on their collab "My Universe" that he liked that BTS felt like a family, pretty much in the way that Coldplay felt more like a family than just a band. The collaboration was Jin's idea and although Chris would never say it, it was obvious that Jin is his favourite. Jin has been a huge Coldplay fan from very young and he calls Chris "my superstar, my bro" in their messages. BTS is also very open with how much they love their fans and each other and they must have felt the same vibes with Coldplay. When Chris dropped in at their PTD concert in LA, the boys ran to hug him like excited puppies. I noticed though that the most full-on hug was for Jin. So thank you for your emotional engagement with Jin and Coldplay. They are really special people.

It sounds crazy but I feel like I know them like they’re my own kids. I pray for Jin! And for BTS and will be forever grateful for the joy they bring to every ARMY. Much respect for Coldplay my original favorite band until BTS came along…love both groups!

I appreciate your genuine reaction. Don't worry , we all cried to this song over and over. I agree with everything you said. I often worry about Jin. He got a lot of hate in regards to enlistment and being the oldest in the group he always has to be strong for his members. I love seeing Jin with Chris. It's so wholesome. Jin has always said that he is a fan of CP. Imagine being a fan and then one day you actually have a relationship with your idol. This song really hits hard and my goodness I love Jin's lower register. I have been wanting to hear more of his mid_-low range and this definitely showcased that. Jin's voice also evokes a rollercoaster of emotions. Whenever I think of his enlistment I just bawl my eyes out.

Chris has talked about becoming close with BTS and how they would do anything to protect them, Coldplay is Jin fave band and is the one who wanted to do s collaboration hence my universe. 💜😊

I do agree that Jin needs support. Jin, being the oldest in BTS, probably feels like he has an obligation to take care of the members. The Coldplay guys are his hyungs, someone he can rely on.

Im literally crying thinking of Jin leaving just because of what he said about not having friends. I swear I'm not as worried for Tae for example. Tae will make friends with walls even. But I feel so protective over Jin (over all of them tbh) cause he's the one who's taken care of the rest and now it's him for himself for a while and uugghh

I feel the same way too. I feel like Jin can be very vulnerable sometimes without having somewhere to release those emotions, so he needs a lot of alone time to wind down from stress. Added with the fact that he is going first really has me worrying a lot (although I worry about all of them). 🥺 But I know he is strong physically, mentally and emotionally. So let's try and stay strong for him too. 💜

It means a lot to us that Coldplay have been so genuine, respectful and so supportive of BTS. It's all Army have ever wanted from everyone they work with. I love Chris' relationship with Jin. He's such a supportive hyung. 🥺 It's so lovely to witness. 💜

It's ok to be touched by not only the beautiful relationship but also the bond between the two of them. I can't ever watch it without crying. I appreciate your sharing yourself with us!

I'm glad you picked up on the fact that he did the run when running to Chris. Connecting it to the video. I think he's saying "Come on my brother, Go Jin!"

Jin is the oldest of the group, and really hasnt had anyone older to look for guidance from, and i think Chris kinda fills that role for him. Not saying he cant lean on the other guys for support, but having a big brother figure is a big deal.

Over time I have come to love Jin and his beautiful spirit. He is not often noticed immediately, but his kindness in reaching out to others despite his own shyness, his heartfelt efforts to overcome the underdog status in a supergroup, and the sincerity he pours into everything he does for army deserve appreciation. The genuine love in this performance

It is only natural to get emotional over this, you are not weak at all. Jin has that ability to evoke emotion in us all

I am not sure why but when Chris went to Korea he seemed to have a special fondness for Jin despite Jin having only a small role in My Universe. He gave Jin a guitar which I imagine was signed. Some say it was the guitar in the music video.
